Ok a few points...
My sat nav card had the full europe maps on it.. It used special compression technology (acording to instructions.)
The gizmondo is Windows ce 4.2 based
You can get an updated firmware that allows unsigned content
Smart adds no longer work as does the text MMS service.0 -

1. Read the whole thread
2. Ask a question if anything is still unclear!
In answer to your question:big_dec wrote:the catalogue number for this item does not show online or in this years catalogue but they do have them in the stores0 -

i have been back to the argos and the staff opened one of the units there and on a slip of paper inside the box it listed that the gps was installed0 -
Any advice on stores which definitely have this with the gps? How can you be sure there is the sat nav - doesn't there have to be as memory card labelled copilot?I think....0

I went into the Coventry store and asked to look inside a box. There was just the normal (16mb??) card in the box, with no slip of paper and no extra memory card!0

sco0ter wrote:Nope sorry m8... picked mine up from argos today and it came with Navigator 2006 (powered by co-pilot 6). It even installed on my PDA no bother as well. There are a few features that dont work now but the GPS is excellent. It doesnt say it comes with Navigator on the box it just says GPS and the SD card is in the box0

davewinner wrote:Like other people have been saying, I think some people have been very lucky and got the Navigator Software with the Gizmondo but the one i bought did not have it!! If you just want a Gizmondo without Navigator they are for sale in HMV for £39.99.
From what i have seen at the argos it looks like the stores dont all have the same gizmondos the best bet is to check at the store and ask to see it before you buy0 -
I checked Scunthorpe today (9th), they had 2 'Smart Adds' units, no extra Memory Card/slip of paper inside, just one demo memory card
How well does the Gizmondo GPS work in a car without the cradle? I ask because I believe the cradle comes with a GPS aerial, so am I correct in saying the cradle (£40?) is also a requirement if you intend to use the Gizmondo in a car?
Monday 10th April. Checked Sheffield Meadowhall, they had one opened that I could have a look at (the rest were sealed in cellophane), it had a piece of card which mentioned GPS, but no extra memory card, just the demo memory card.0
