You do need to upload software to allow the Gizmondo to run unsigned code though. They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.0 -

Neither would I unless my employer was paying0 -
Ok - day off today, so with £65 in my pocket I decided to see what I could achieve.
It's correct that you can't reserve via the internet site, but the ring and reserve service does show stock and allow reservations. Got a reservation for Guiseley and Leeds Crown Point. First stop Guiseley. The unit was cellophane wrapped but the CS representative had no problems removing it. No joy. Moved on to Crown Point. Thought my luck was in as the item came down without wrap. Looks like another MSE'r had got there before me as this one also had no navigation card. When I told her what I was doing, the very helpful lady went and got the two remaining boxes from the stockroom but these were wrapped. No problem opening them, but no joy here either. Was like a scene from Willy Wonka.
If anyone finds stock in West / North Yorkshire please let me know!0 -
Thats quite nice of her to check them all, some Argos staff can be really arsey so its a lot better when they are nice and helpful, its what customer service is all about!

I have got TomTom running on the Gizmondo. It's tomtom 5.21 pocket pc version, but the software navigation is a nightmare, it's almost impossible to enter an address (remember there is no touch screen), the light keeps going out after 30 secs unless you keep pressing the buttons but more importantly the unit cannot seem to hold onto the signal. Also you need to copy the software onto the unit from the memory card if you switch it off or remove the battery.
So all in all it can be done, but to be honest unless you are very computer savey you could be pouring your money down the drain.0 -
Oh here is the link (mentioned already) on how far people have got. If you can understend what they are talking about then you could get it to work, if not walk away..
