Id hate to think of the life the animal has suffered, just so as a society we can eat cheap animals pumped full of growth hormones.
I prefer to buy my meat from places where the ethical treatment of animals is more of a priority than getting the cheapest price for them and where they are not pumped full of hormones!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

so why are you here princess??!
as i stated before...these chickens are normally 4.49 reduced on special offer ..they have been no worse treated than a standard bird so please climb down off that horse!0 -
Evening all!
I just had a very yummy £2 chicken for dinner. These are normally more expensive but on special offer so I picked one up for today and one is in the freezer for another time.
Yes, it would be nice if all the meat I ate was organic happy meat, raised by people that loved it. Instead I'm skint and have to decide what is the best value for me. I choose not to buy "value" meat but to buy well when I can afford to. Most of the meat I buy is good quality from the end of day reductions.
I saw this offer and thought of how much it would do for me and Mr Fresian. We had roast chicken for dinner. Tomorrow we will have the chicken legs as a casserole and I will make chicken soup from the bones, which will do me for the rest of the week in lunches. Any leftover meat will go into chicken mayo sandwiches for Mr Fresian.
It would be lovely if my chicken had received a cuddle from someone before becoming my dinner, but at the end of the day it's a chicken reared for slaughter regardless.
Please don't judge me for not having the funds to buy what you perceive to be a better quality of food. I find myself getting very annoyed every time a good deal on chicken is posted here as the Chicken Warriors always come out of the woodwork. If you are a vegetarian, why come and poke at meat-eaters who are trying to get a good deal for their families?

Anyway my conscience is clear, and thats all that matters. I believe it reflects upon what type of person you are if you respect animals. I too am vegetarian, doesnt bother me people eating meat - just as long as its ethically sourced, but there again most of my meat eating mates actually care about what they eat. I repeat ANIMALS ARE NOT MACHINES
And thats all i've got to say on the matter, goodbye:A

I do genuinely apologise if it came across as lecturing you. It was not meant that way. I actually had a call of 'nature' so was typing fast and it probably came across that way in my haste
I do understand you, your ethics and your want to inform others, I really doI will not for instance use P&G products due to their history, or Nestle...which is a damn shame as pringles are amazing!
But still, I honestly do believe that there are not people reading a thread on £2 chicken that imagine they are going to buy anything other than what they are getting
Despite my views, which are largely simmilar to yours, I choose not to increase peoples awareness(although I would have done even a few years ago) as not only do I believe most people are aware, I also know that there are alot of people who's children practicaly only get protein from chicken as they are 'fussy eaters' and they can not afford to buy a 'higher quality' bird. I guess if I raised my views, I would then feel bad that actually, maybe the only time they can afford to put chicken on their childrens plate is when it is £2. I would not want them to feel guilty and truth be known...I guess their children getting protein over rides the chicken to me, even though the way the chickens are treated genuinely upsets me.
I know that probably does not seem logical, but I just wanted really(after all that waffle) apologise, should you think I was lecturing you...I was not, I just do not think your post was in the right place to 'educate people'.
Sorry if I came across the wrong way0 -
Actually they are getting a chicken that normally sells for £4 odd so not exactly a cheap chicken, it may not be a happy chicken but then is any chicken happy when its dead0

You appear to be a very rude, patronising person who feels that they are qualified to insult, lecture and pick holes in the way other perfectly well educated, moral, ethical and reasonable people choose to run their lives.
You are entitled to your opinion - but please do not try to RAM it down everyone else's throat. You will get further if you stop implying everyone else is an idiot and that you are the only person with personal ethics.ELITE 5:2
