Nothing wrong with selling it now. If he doesnt want the record then now is the best time to get rid of it. I've only found 7" copies of the record but if its 12" and its meant to be 7" then it really is unique and i would sell it to the hilt that it really is a one off.

And why are some people on their high horses over this? There's nothing wrong with it. Heres some info i found here on this 12" release.

The single discs can also be found individually, catalgue numbers below in brackets:
    I Just Can't Stop Loving You ()
    Bad (651155)
The Way You Make Me Feel (651275+)
    Man In The Mirror (651388)
    Dirty Diana (651546)

Also uncut promos of each disc exist and are very rare as only a very few are created for test pressing purposes. They appear within a clear 12" vinyl as shown below:

So it appears your version since it is clear, is a test pressing. These are usually done before the real vinyls are made. Its like a record label sending out 1 track CDRs today for radio play.......if it gets played well then official CDs with artwork will be sent out to radio with perhaps more tracks such as instrumentals etc.

That link is exactly the record i got, exept there is a ticket stump for Cardiff Arms Park 1988 inside the clear vinyl also. I have contacted record collector magazine editor and got this response:-

    "Thanks ******, an interesting record!
I’ll forward this to Ian Shirley, author of our Rare Record Price Guide and our Value Added Facts pages, and he will be in touch.
    Best wishes,
    Alan"

Also got this response from Reddington Rare Records:-

"FRAID YOU'LL HAVE TO AUCTION JACKO STUFF NOW

altho there are 1000s selling at mo

    Kind Regards

    Dan

    Danny Reddington
    Reddington Rare Records"

I also contacted Vinyl Tap and they said same. Sell it on Ebay.
Thanks you all for you help. I am still waiting Ian Shirly to get back to me. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my post. I have waited and contacted many record dealers to no avail. Have decided to put it on ebay with a starting price of £300. As this is the first time I have sold on ebay, wasn't sure on the start price. But here goes.

You need to sort out your postage before you get a bid. £4 is not going to cover a tracked and signed for service with sufficient insurance. I'd also question allowing overseas bidders, how can you guarantee to safeguard yourself paypal wise again with tracking and insurance issues especially as the only tracked service only covers a handful of countries.

Take out the silly comment about payment in 3 days, it can't be enforced and if they don't pay then what? Also, what do you mean by paypal cleared payments?

Eightof8 - if a someone buys that, pays the £4 postage, it's sent normal post and goes missing - you will have to refund the buyer what they paid for the record. It's your responsibility to insure it / get it to them, not theirs. You need to look up the insured rate on the royal mail website and quote that on your auction as the only option - before someone bids!

I would take out the overseas option too, due to insurance issues.

If they dont take out your postal insurance and the item goes missing you will still be liable to refund them if they claim through paypal.

Work out your postage rates including enough insurance to cover yourself.

Also if you are going to sell overseas put the costs in your listings as if people have to ask they a lot of the time cant be bothered so you loose customers.

But sort out your postage use royal mail special delivery with appropriate coverage. If you dont sort that out in your listing you are just asking for problems.

I echo what the others have said, it's you that needs insurance not the buyers so you need to include it in the price you are charging for p and p. No buyer will stump up extra and frankly you are marking yourself out as a victim for a scammer with your auction like that.

I also note that you are still accepting overeas bidders (and don't forget they won't necessarily contact you before bidding either) have you given thought to how you intend sending this and cover yourself for paypal purposes? I am an experienced seller yet would be very hesitant to send a £300 item overseas unless I was sure about which courier would take it tracked and insured, and even then I would be adding the costs to the postage options so that overseas buyers could see the costs before they pay rather than win the auction and then refuse to pay because it is too expensive.

I think you are unlikely to sell it anyway with no seller feedback but there is a thread here for new sellers.

I think that price is laughable based on the advice and prices quoted in this thread for various non promos. I personally would always let the market decide, people who collect will know what it's worth and would then bid accordingly. Claiming the record to be unique is also misleading. These are rarer but not unique, meaning, one in existence. You make no mention of condition, the catalogue code etc. You need to include this information.
