People will leap on anything they think there could be easy money. If you do an ebay search under MJ now you will see tons of listings that have appeared in the last day trying to cash in. Personally never liked MJ or his music but I do find it quite distasteful

    Everyone to there own though

Just had a look myself and there is all sorts of things on now. People trying to sell old ticket stubs and people bidding on tickets for the new tour for collectability - Though the one i was looking at has been removed now

I actually don't have a problem with selling memorabilia. Celebrities, pop stars etc make money from fans all the time, T shirts at concerts for £20, souvenir brochures for performances at £10 etc. I think it is a logical progression to resell those items in turn to other people who may want a memento.

How long do you think it will be before MJs family and close friends start selling their stories, I see some Sunday papers are already promising exclusives, it is the same thing.

People will mourn MJ and that won't stop just because some people use the chance to resell items that they have.

If people wish to sell these items I have no problem but personally when people are obviously trying to cash in be it people or ebay I find it morally problematic. But it is there choice but not a thing i could do cashing in on someones death.

I have a problem with the original posters statement that they dont wish to cash in but then ask how to sell an item. You should be honest your trying to cash in admit it and dont try to justify it just to make yourself a little bit better.

    Just my opinions though

cyberbob I do agree that a statement saying 'i don't want to cash in' whilst asking how to set a price are mutually exclusve. If I had memorabilia to sell I would be selling it and be 100% aware that I was cashing in and would not pretend otherwise.

Regulars know that I used to dabble a lot in sci fi items and about 5 years ago (possibly more) the sci fi community went through a bad spell where several popular but young actors died suddenly. The sci fi boards were full of people asking if other fans had little mementos they could pass on, and foolishly many of us did (and even paid the postage ourselves) only to find them on ebay a few days later. That's when I cottoned on and listed my items as soon as I heard an announcement. Sci fi is different it is very faddy and it was a case of sell immediately or forever lose any resale value, personal items and autographs that I sold at the time would now be completely without value. I did keep some though, mainly personal photos of me with actors (sci fi ones are great and are happy to share a lunch with a fan, or even on one case go shopping for shoes!), they are my memories not mass produced items that were only popular after the death of an actor.

He very probably is cold .....since he's in a morgue...........

However, if the OP intends to sell....then Good Luck to him / her.
The very fact that MJ's cd's are selling by the boatload right now shows that the record companies are happy enough making money out of his sad and unfortunate demise...... so IMHO it's prefectly in order to offer what may be a valuable item at a time of ( possible ) high demand !

    Good luck with it..............

The folk I feel sorry for are those who paid through the nose for MJ tickets at the O2...and are now doubtless panicking and praying their sellers are still registered and not long gone...... there must be some SERIOUS money concerns there!
if i had known then what i know now
