riahana - I always feel huge during my period, all bloaty and gutsy, but in a few days time you'll be back to your normal self again - just keep that thought in your head and you'll get through it

I always have a 2 finger kitkat (5 syns) and sit nibbling all the chocolate of it before eating the wafer layer by layer. It will usually last me 15 minutes

    OMG I'm drooling now

    Hello all,

I've been reading a few posts on this thread and decided I'd like to join in too if I can. :o I am very overweight at the moment, I weighed myself on Thursday and was at 15 stone 1.5lbs!  I would like to get down to about 9 stone as I am only 5'5" as that's what seemed to suit me 'pre-children', so I'm in for the long haul.

I am really angry with myself that I haven't done something about this sooner. At Christmas time I was very, very poorly. I got something called Guillain Barre Syndrome which is very rare but when it does occur it seems to most commonly be caused by a viral infection (sore throat in my case) and instead of the body attacking the virus, for some reason it attacks the nervous system and causes a complete shutdown resulting in paralysis and sometimes even death!! I have never ever been so frightened, especially as I am only 29! It was horrible laying there in hospital on Christmas Day, thinking about what my boys would be like waking up on Christmas morning, crying and wondering if I did 'go' if my youngest son would remember me (the things that go through your head in those places!!). Luckily I responded to treatment and made a promise to myself that if I got over it completely I would lose my weight and really look after myself. But here I am nearing my 30th birthday on the 23rd of this month and heavier than ever! I feel like I've been given a second chance but I'm wasting it. And guess what, I had a sore throat this week, although nowhere near as severe as the one that possibly caused my illness, but it was enough to get me worried and remind me of the promises I made to myself last Christmas Day that I haven't been keeping  . Sooo, this is it! I have found what seems to be a wonderful thread on my favourite ever website and I am sure to be logging in everyday for inspiration etc.

I did SW last year and was doing really well until DH lost his job and then things went completely kaput! At first I did manage to lose 13lbs in one month and was Slimmer of the Month (still have my fridge magnet!) but I have to sadly confess that all that weight has returned (with interest!). At least I know that it does work and will be following a similar plan. I just need to find a way to feed the whole family (myself, DH and 2 sons aged 6 and 2.5) without making 3 or 4 different meals a night. DH would like to lose weight too but is so fussy and doesn't like tomatoes, peppers, most veg infact, and he gets 'bored' with a plateful of pasta that all tastes the same, sigh! I am sure there is a way to strike a happy balance but its finding it that is the problem.

As I say, I hope you don't mind me joining in. One of the reasons I did so well last year was because I was a member of a Yahoo Online SW Support Forum but I kept getting distracted by this site! :p Now I have found the best of both worlds. I have worked out that I have 85lbs to lose  and will officially start tomorrow morning and get rid of a few bits and bobs of bad stuff tonight. As far as exercise goes, I go tap dancing (only been going since March - rat-a-tat-tat!) on a Thursday evening and now will definitely be starting a Dance Aerobics class this Tuesday night with best friend - size 10 grrr (although she did split her work pants on the bum whilst sitting down this week :rotfl: ) - for moral support.

Will log in tomorrow morning after my 'weigh in' and have a jolly good browse for that all important inspiration to keep me going to target this time. Fingers (and everything!) crossed.

Nice to speak to you all

    Angie.

    Hi Angie,

Wow, you've been through it badly and come out the other side.
You sound pretty well motivated to me now so as long as you think along those same lines for the next few months, you'll be fine and down to a size 10.
I have been looking for an adults tap dancing class for ages so now I'm really jealous. I ended up buying some shoes off ebay and buying a dvd but ended up scratching my wooden floor!
You are so welcome to join in as is everyone else and as you know SW really does work so if you can follow the plan at home, you'll do really well.

Strawberry is this week's password and trout is next week's.

Good luck and stay with us

Welcome to all newbies. This site is really supportive and helpful. I am cooking cous cous cake now so will report back.

Not a great fan of SW chips, how do you all cook them? I might have them for dinner with eggs, mushrooms and quorn sausage. Almost a fry up!
