Hi Turbo,
I was also diagnosed with PCOS. We'd been trying for a baby for 3 years before we actually got lucky. My Darling son is now 7 months old. I can honestly say that I know what you're going through.
I was on treatment for my PCOS which also helped me to shift some weight. My consultant first put me on clomid alone (didn't work for anything) and then combination drug therapy - clomid and metformin together. I was only on the treatment for a few months and managed to lose 2 stone and gave me a bit of energy and regulated my cycle.
Some consultant gynacologists (sp) can be kind of nasty and say that this treatment doesn't work for weightloss when you have pcos. I can tell you that's not true. If you can find a sympathetic gynae consultant, they'll be able to help you out.
Good luck with the diet... and everything else.

Just a medical warning if you haven't been used to eating grapefruit: there are a few prescription drugs which say not to eat grapefruit with them. I think one of them is for asthma / hayfever. Can't remember what: just that a few years back DS2 had something prescribed which said "don't eat grapefruit" in the patient information leaflet. If in doubt, check your patient information leaflet, and if you don't have one google or ask your pharmacist!
You shouldn't eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice if you take statins, which are prescribed for high cholesterol.

Herbs and spices are free!:):)
There's a recipe for vegetable curry on the lose weight recipes thread in the Old Style section. I also make chilli with Quorn mince on a regular basis - you can make it as hot as you like.

This is my groups very favourite curry sauce recipe, and I've been told it's even better than the 'real' thing;)
Syn free curry sauce.
1 Onion
2 cloves Garlic
1 tsp finely grated ginger
1tbsp hot or medium curry powder
400g tin chopped tomatoes
57ml/2fl oz veg stock
2 tbspn sweetener
57g/ 2oz natural yoghurt or fromage frais
1tbspn chopped mint (optional)
1 tbspn chopped coriander (optional)
Chop onions and crush garlic. Spray frying pan with fry light and place on heat - add onion, garlic, and ginger and fry for 1-2 mins before adding curry powder.
Stir and cook for another couple of mins then add tomatoes, sweetener and stock.
Bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer gently for 12-15 mins.
Then blitz sauce in food processor or with hand blender, and return to heat. Heat gently then add yoghurt or fromage frais and herbs.
This sauce can be used over meat or fish on an Original day or over chunky veg on the Green plan.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Did my first weigh in and weh hey I LOST 2lbs!
Considering that I had double the amount of syns and didn't eat the free food and a and b's I am delighted. Need to get my head around it properly this week.
All the other newby's lost 3.5 to 5.5 lbs but I was happy with my 2lb loss.
I want a long term change of life style not a diet with a timescale, so it will come off gradually.
The group are all a lovely bunch and the consultant is excellent. It surprises me the difference from his attitude to the one I went to a few years ago. But I suppose in all types of career you get the good and the bad.
I've learnt more in 2 meetings with him than I had in 2 months with the other person.
One thing to say is... never give up your plan/class whatever one you do if you don't like the consultant/class but make sure you go to another one instead.
Honey28 - I did the spanish style chicken from the little book attached to the mag and it was yummy, I also made the strawberry ice but it was a bit icy as I didn't stir it enough! But what I tasted had nice flavours.
Cheers
