madauri wrote:Hum... When I was at the high school I decided to take healthier habits with my food and substituted an apple for the usual sandwich every morning.
That year I gained half a stone.
I've hated apples ever since.
I've just laughed quite audibly in an open plan office...i can't explain why to anyone as they'll find out i'm on here instead of working!! Hee hee0 -

I am really trying to drink 2 litres of water a day. Has anyone seen any real benefits in increasing water intake in relation to weight loss?

I wonder how Cheekymole is getting on - is it 2 or 3 weeks she is away for - if its 2 she should be back soon, by my reckoning?
Yes, she's here, dreading the weigh in tomorrow. Got back yesterday, had a fabulous time. Didn't drink as it's dead expensive so I'm hoping that will the scales will approve!
Haven't read every post but hello to all the new joiners.
The Skinny Cow lollies are 4.5 syns for strawberry and 3.5 for chocolate fudgeI haven't got one!0 -

I always add a bit of sugar free cordial and always have a glass full when I'm feeling peckish as it fills me up, so yes, I would say it helpsI haven't got one!0 -

This is from a magazine article I found interesting some time ago:-
There are many forms of metabolism going on in your body right now, but the one everyone is talking about it the metabolism of fat. This is actually something that the liver does when it converts stored fat to energy. The liver has other functions, but this is one of its main jobs.
Unfortunately, another of the liver’s duties is to pick up the slack for the kidneys, which need plenty of water to work properly. If the kidneys are water-deprived, the liver has to do their work along with its own, lowering its total productivity. It then can’t metabolise fat as quickly or efficiently as it could when the kidneys were pulling their own weight. If you allow this to happen, not only are you being unfair to your liver, but you’re also setting yourself up to store fat.
Apart from all that, a large glass of water drunk before meals really does help to take the edge off your appetite :TI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Nice to have you back Cheekymole. I'm not going to ask if you've had a good holiday - you'll only say yes and make me jealous :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi Lois and everyone:wave:
Have not been tuned in for a while and didn't come online to confess last Friday. Only week 2 of diet and no loss at all! Didn't actually gain but need to find more resolve to stick to it.:wall:
Well done to all who have continued to do so well, though :T
For those looking for a sweet treat, especially in this hot weather, try washing and freezing fresh grapes. You would be surprised how long a wee bowl lasts when you are eating them like wee ice lollies, and all for same points/syns/calories as fresh grapes.
