I've got this really nice M&S book called 'hip dips' that is full of recipes. I got it free when they were doing 3 for 2 at xmas! There is a whole chapter of cheese dip recipes. They have (amongst others) cheese and bacon, cheese and garlic, cheesy yogurt, cheese and garlic and herb, cheese and chive. Also some others using feta, goats cheese, blue cheese, etc.
I'm afraid I havent tried any out yet but let me know if you want me to post any of the recipes. There is a hummus recipe in their too but it looks a bit 'fussy' and I'm sure people have posted easier ones on here before.0 -
My 2 year old just loves to "dip-dip" everything! she loves soup with bread to dip.I also tend to make a huge batch of tomato sauce (for pasta) and then i steam a load of veggies whatever i have in the fridge until soft.Blitz the veg and mix in with the sauce.I Then freeze in cubes and when frozen put in a bag. Then when i want it i defrost and heat throw in some grated cheese or cheese spread and serve it in a bowl. Holly loves to dip in cooked pasta tubes or twirls, veg/salad fingers. pitta, crusty bread just about anything!0

Here are a few I just posted recently actually but not on this thread!!
Vegetable spread
One medium onion, chopped
1 stick of celery chopped
2 - 3 oz of cucumber. Remove skin and chop
3 oz green pepper deseeded and chopped
couple of gherkins chopped (leave them out if you don't like them but they do give a nice tang to the flavour without tasting too much like gherkin)
3 oz cottage cheese (press this through a sieve first)
5 oz chopped fresh tomatoes
salt and black pepper
I sometimes add a slug of tabasco if I want some fire but it's nice without.
If you like a coarse spread, just mix everything together, if you like it smoother then blend. Chill well before eating.
Curried bean spread
bunch of spring onions chopped
15oz can of chick peas
15 oz can of flageolet beans
4 oz of low fat cottage cheese
3 oz of low fat fromage frais
1 tsp english mustard (ready made)
grated rind of half a lemon
curry powder to taste
small pinch of chilli powder to taste
salt and pepper
Put in the blender and blend til almost smooth depending on how you like your spreads.
Cucumber and cheese spread
8oz of cottage cheese
1 tsp lemon juice
dash of tabasco
half a small onion, grated or two or three spring onions finely chopped
6oz cucumber, peeled and finely chopped
Mix together and cover and chill in the fridge for about an hour. This makes a soft spread.

Lovely Ideas!
I make a broadbean dip/spread:
tin of broadbean or fresh cooked
glove of garlic
some salt
cayenne pepper to taste
generous splash of olive oil
juice of about half a lemon
fresh parsley
Just put everything in the blender. So yummy and healthy (even people who are normally not too fond of broadbeans tend to like it).
The mayo/yogurt mix does work very well with curry powder. I use it as a dip or salad dressing.
Also use a tahini/yogurt mix with some fresh nutmeg (nice with slightly sweet tastes like egg, or with celery sticks)0 -
