Thanks for the snack ideas. Do you have a recipe for the pasties and the cheese swirls. Those sound perfect...as do the quiches!

For the pasties I make a standard shortcrust pastry 2 parts flour and 1 part fat (half and half butter and lard), pinch of salt rubbed into crumbs with just enough cold water to bind, rest in fridge then roll out and cut circles and fill with whatever you have - I use leftover mash mixed with grated cheese and fried onions, or leftovers from stew or chilli - experiment with what you like.

For the bread swirls make a standard white bread mix and leave for its first rise, knock back and knead again for a coupe of minutes then roll out nice and thin as close to a long rectangle as you can get. Smear on your filling be it tomato paste and sprinkle on some herbs and grated cheese or pesto or grated cheese and fried onions again experiment, you could even use marmite or jam. roll up as tight as you can (to leave it long IYSWIM) and cut with a sharp knife at about 1 - 2 cm intervals, place swirl up on a baking tray and prove again before baking as usual. I'm looking for ideas for a dip for HM potato wedges that is low fat. Usually I'd use mayo or sour cream but Dh is on a diet! I looked at the 1/2 fat creme fraiche but that is still quite fattening so i'm hoping you could give me some ideas using fat free yoghurt - any idea what I could add to it that would make a yummy dip?

I'd drain the yog to thicken it up a big then add chopped herbs and a bit of crushed garlic or some smoked paprika and cumin for a spicy dip

I'm so glad you posted this! I'm making burgers and wedges for tea tonight and I usually make a spectacular garlic mayo to dip. But I don't have any mayo and I'm trying to cut down on fat so don't want to buy more. I've got some hm yoghurt in the fridge and couldn't decide what to put in it. So got lots of ideas now!

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
