Hmmm, true Lisa...I guess if I were paying £35, I'd leave £40...but does handing over a £5 seem stingy?0

I've never understood the tipping of hairdressers. Why are you wanting to give someone extra for doing their job properly?
Do you tip everyone who serves you during the day? The supermarket checkout girl, the bus driver, the bank clerk? They probably earn a lot less than someone at a top Salon!
SAKS knows exactly what it's doing by publishing this promotion (and they will get new customers from it) but don't feel under any obligation to leave a tip.0 -
ha, just phoned the one in sudbury hill again after realising it was well past 9am and not received a call.... grrrr, they aren't particpating in the promotion and website got updated this morning.
so no haircut, but have been booked in for a facial next thursday with a different david lloyd at hounslow. better than nothing.
also the one in hammersmith will call me if they have a cancellation but have a list, and said they will run their own promo at the end of the offer. Depending how much they charge then, might take up their offer.0 -

I do not leave it for the hairdresser, I have an aunt who is one-they earn well even if they have to give a cut to the salon.
I leave it though for the typically young guys and gals. My brother did the whole hair wash and sweep years ago-they really get an absolute pittance and do rely on their tips.
Also these guys are going to be working a lot harder for their minimum wage at the moment as the salons will be a lot busier.
Nobody has to...but it is nice to know how much those who will be leaving a tip, will give, as it is a bit of a hard one s your not making the bill up to the next £5 or whatever0 -

This is all very true, I used to pay my way through college working in a hairdressers and everyone forgets the person who sweeps up the hair, washes their hair, makes their tea and generally runs around like a headless chicken for everyone!
A few people would always remember to come and tip me because I was the one they enjoyed chatting to which was really nice, but most just forget that you've been the one sorting things out to get you ready for your cut!The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Had my hair cut today at Leeds David Llyods, they were all very nice to me. Has my picture taken for the girl's portfollio. Obviously a junior but she took her time and I felt very looked after. Got a lovely haircut, including wash, condtioner, dry and straighten all for free!!0

I also had my totally free cut and finish at Saks today (DLC Nottingham). I was the only person in the shop, although the stylist had just done another voucher cut before me.
I'm well impressed, and I picked up the price list for their normal prices. They are not too bad at all, and I did get a full consultation before and during the cut/dry by the stylist.
Thumbs up for Saks from me0 -
Lucky you! When I finally got through to Saks in Leeds I was told that there were no bookings left! The voucher says "free Saks haircut for every reader" - I'm definitely not impressed, and have emailed them to complain.0
