Free Saks haircut / facial - Update
    Newspaper-based offer

Last week’s News of the World (Sun 28 June) had a voucher in its free glossy Fabulous magazine entitling you to a free £35 haircut or taster facial at posh beauty salon Saks before 26 July.

We featured this high up in the weekly e-mail and it was very popular. Yet a number of people e-mailed to say their copy of the magazine didn’t have the voucher, so we asked the News of the World about it and its explained it and promised to try and sort it out for those who went without.

“This weekend we saw unprecedented demand for the News of the World following the sad death of Michael Jackson. This put additional pressure the News of the World’s supply chain and there was a supply shortfall of UK Fabulous magazines in a small amount of deliveries edition date Sunday 28th June.”

“On those occasions Fabulous magazine was replaced with Irish editions of the magazine, which did not run the voucher for the free SAKS haircut offer. We understand that this has left some of our readers disappointed.”

“Please accept our sincere apologies, we are endeavouring to ensure this will not happen again.”

Meanwhile, please send the cover of your Irish edition of Fabulous by 6th July to the following address and we will provide further instructions on redeeming this offer. Please also include your contact details.

This is all very well & good, but what if when you receive the voucher you can't get booked as they are all full??

Book it now for as close to end of promo as possible to give you time to get voucher.

Lucky you! When I finally got through to Saks in Leeds I was told that there were no bookings left! The voucher says "free Saks haircut for every reader" - I'm definitely not impressed, and have emailed them to complain.
I have been trying to phone the David Lloyd salon in Trafford Park for days, eventually emailed them on Tuesday, and replied Weds asking if I could confirm if I had a voucher for the free offer, as this would help them make an appointment for me, and just received a mail now to say no appts left!! really cross, as don't see how they can offer this, and 25 days before the time is up on the offer they can say that there are no appts. Who can I complain to, any ideas?

I've not got a voucher infront of me, but does it not say subject to availibility?

I know from speaking to my local, they had x amount of appointments for the offer, it is not limitless. When in fairness is good, I should imagine they thought the offer would only be taken up by those who normally bought the paper and would therefore only have x amount of the vouchers used. I doubt they predicted that folks from MSE would be buying it just for the voucher, thereby increasing the percentage of 'readers' taking the offer up?

unfortunately it was subject to availability, and not just mse, paidtoshop and hotukdeals no doubt had this posted on their forums! You can imagine how much their sales went up!

Ah well in that case, there can be no complaints, just rather unfortunate for those whose salons run out of spaces immediately.

Yes...I should imagine the shops had no returns that night :)

I've not got my voucher yet, an angel is sending me one, but I booked my appointment immediately and did it for 2 days before the promotion ends(ends on a weekend and not fair for a mum to grab a weekend spot really!)
