Lucky you! When I finally got through to Saks in Leeds I was told that there were no bookings left! The voucher says "free Saks haircut for every reader" - I'm definitely not impressed, and have emailed them to complain.

I e-mailed through yesterday morning after finally getting through. Wasn't impressed at all as if I had known how they were going to do these things I wouldn't have bothered buying the paper! Even the boots voucher in it doesn't last that long!

Free Saks haircut / facial - Update
    Newspaper-based offer

Last week’s News of the World (Sun 28 June) had a voucher in its free glossy Fabulous magazine entitling you to a free £35 haircut or taster facial at posh beauty salon Saks before 26 July.

We featured this high up in the weekly e-mail and it was very popular. Yet a number of people e-mailed to say their copy of the magazine didn’t have the voucher, so we asked the News of the World about it and its explained it and promised to try and sort it out for those who went without.

“This weekend we saw unprecedented demand for the News of the World following the sad death of Michael Jackson. This put additional pressure the News of the World’s supply chain and there was a supply shortfall of UK Fabulous magazines in a small amount of deliveries edition date Sunday 28th June.”

“On those occasions Fabulous magazine was replaced with Irish editions of the magazine, which did not run the voucher for the free SAKS haircut offer. We understand that this has left some of our readers disappointed.”

“Please accept our sincere apologies, we are endeavouring to ensure this will not happen again.”

Meanwhile, please send the cover of your Irish edition of Fabulous by 6th July to the following address and we will provide further instructions on redeeming this offer. Please also include your contact details.

I have just come back from my cut in Maidstone. I am really chuffed with the cut and the service was excellent. I have booked another and was given a £10 off over £30 spend for next time. Well done Saks!

I've never understood the tipping of hairdressers. Why are you wanting to give someone extra for doing their job properly?

Do you tip everyone who serves you during the day? The supermarket checkout girl, the bus driver, the bank clerk? They probably earn a lot less than someone at a top Salon!

SAKS knows exactly what it's doing by publishing this promotion (and they will get new customers from it) but don't feel under any obligation to leave a tip.

Of course it's a choice, but it is traditional in this country that you tip someone who provides you with a service, that is personal, and you are having them do for you instead of yourself. Eg, Taxi, Hairdresser, Server in a Restaurant, Delivery People. And it probably stems from back in the day when your local hairdresser was not on a very good wage.

Your hair is so personal, I definately tip of they do a good job, because I'm so grateful! ESPECIALLY if the haircut is free. Remember some haridressers work not on a salary but either on commission only, or by client payments only.

Got my free haircut today, I'm sooo impressed, looks really good and the girls in the salon were lovely. My stylist said that the Glasgow one is no longer participating as they were fully booked and could only take a couple of voucher appointments per day and the phone was ringing off the hook yesterday.

While I was in a few other voucher people were in too :) and people were constantly ringing up and coming in off the street trying to book appointments with the offer. Felt so sorry for the staff, they must be fed up saying the same thing over and over again. Also left a £5 tip :)

Really chuffed with this offer, love how my hair has turned out and defo think I will be back at Saks again, was also told by my stylist that you can go back every fortnight for a free fringe trim...yay! :)
