It was 105/55 for a while and heart rate was 46 bpm (I have a fairly slow heart rate anyway, that's been picked up before.)

I've got an interview for a teaching post (cookery in a school, full time), but after digging around I've found the non-qualified teaching salary scale (I'm part qualified so would be classed as non-qual) and I don't think it is worth going!

The national scale is £15,113 to £23,903.

To break even each month (with my current £30 petrol budget) I need an absolute minimum income of £18,500. This pays the bills, adds £80 to the food budget (OH contributes the other half) and puts £30 in the tank. Nothing more - and no debt busting (minimum CC payment) - I'd still need to teach in the evenings for that salary to be clearing my debts quicker than the minimum payment.

I have done 170 miles this month and the petrol light is just about to come on.
The new journey would mean double the petrol each month plus wear and tear on the car so I would really need to be on the £20,300 or £22,145 point which is right towards the top of the non-qual. pay scale when I am only just starting there to ensure I have enough money for petrol and some extra to start increasing the CC payment - and not half killing myself working a 37 hour week in an all boys 11+ school, then working teaching adults 1 or 2 evenings and also doing AQA on Saturdays and Sundays.

    thoughts ?

When do you qualify, and what is the qualified scale?

The nasty instructor let me land at Hong Kong in a massive side wind.....and that time he gave me FULL control:eek:.......I have only got 1 brain, 2 hands and 2 feet!! Is DH an alien with extras????
Nah,just the normal complement, but he is a darn good pilot!
His biggest fright yet was HKG Pepe, assymetric flap landing (only working on 1 wing) with a real nasty x-wind like only Kai-Tak could do.....pulled it off though..

BB I personally think its worth going to the interview anyway, then make the decision about the job if you are offered it. Can you say what school it is? And when would you qualify and be able to get a pay rise?
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Another 2 years as I'm going through the slow lane way of qualifying. The newly qualified teacher scale currently starts at £20,300 so I'd guess it will be around £22k in 2 years time.

Thinking it through, Iguess they are going for the cheapest option possible to get a full time teacher - they could get a fully qualified newly qualified teacher for £20,300 and there are lots around at the moment due to the cash handshake available to do a PGCE (up to 9k) so I can't see them paying me £20k non-qualified when they could get a 'proper' teacher for the same money.
