Think i want to walk out of work

I feel the OPs pain, When i was an accountant, i would pray for death at about 9.05am, and the first 4 mins at work was spent making a coffee.
As friends and family often pointed out "its a great job why do you want to leave" because it was terminally dull, I had stumbled into the wrong career for me.
By chance I found an escape route and have been happy in work ever since, It can be done.0 -

Yes, its not that there is anything wrong with any particular job, its just finding the job that suits you and mine obviously doesn't.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You've cancelled paid time off work? In order to go in and do a job you hate?
It really pains me to be thanked by OlderNotWiser, but something seems fishy here. Fee fi fo fum, I detect trolliness.0 -

Never underestimate how depressing boredom is, but I think you're suffering boredom rather than depression, given the mood lifts when you get home.
Trying to set yourself mini challenges at work does make even the most boring work a little more bearable. I remember some of the other women in a factory b*tching about me, saying I wasn't doing as much work as them, because I was always reading... Well, given my rate of work was set by a machine, as was theirs, I'd say I was doing exactly the same amount of work. Gosh, it's so hard sitting next to a machine, waiting for a little lump of plastic to plop out, fold it, and place it in a cardboard box in a set position.
I wish you lots of luck with your future, and hope you succeed!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Being in a job you hate is actually bad for your physical health. I hated my job like you do. I only escaped when I got diagnosed with terminal cancer. For the next few months I had terrible nightmares about being back at work....not about dying!!! So I understand how strongly being unhappy in your work can affect you.
(As it happens my cancer turned out to be slow growing although uncurable and that was 7 years ago)
So your challenge is to research setting up your own business. Maybe give yourself one year to prepare. Start by jotting down any ideas that come into your head and find out as much as you can. Go onBuy that jotter now and GOOD LUCK!.

You seem like you have so much to offer, nireland guy, many more skills that are being wasted in this job. Please dont lose sight of that
I know its difficult to remember when you are feeling so demoralised, but you CAN and WILL do better.0
