Im finding the 5 day forecast on the BBC weather site is changing everyday!

What the point of a five day forecast if they can't predict the weather and they are going to change it?

Me too. We're going camping on Thursday for a few days and every time I check the 5 day thingy, it's different. As you say, what's the point of telling you what 5 days away will be like if they aren't REALLY sure? Why don't they just hold their hands up and say "we don't know" instead of cracking on they have a clue? I'm sure I could guess as well as they predict.

I prefer the old fashioned "Red Sky At Night or Red Sky In the Morning method. Its always proved itself fruitful to me. every morning I get up and leave for work either with or without a brolly, depending on what I see.

As for the weather reports. The key word is prediction. If I want to know wether im going to have a good or bad day at work, I dont read the astrologers guide to foretell me, I simply go to work and judge it. My feild of vision has proved far more reliable than a guy pointing to a map of the UK, and quoting (Micheal Fish), "Dont worry, theres no hurricane" ;)

It's because at that point they don't not know. It's what the computer models suggest at that time, it may change as more updated data comes in.

So if they "don't know", why put the information up at all? From my experience, it's only as good as any guess I could make. They might as well say "hmmm... it might rain, it might not". Really? Good guess! I've given up looking at it because it's never right.

Do you mean they don't know or they do know (or think they do!)

If it's the former - what's the point? It all just serves to mislead people. We can all rely on updated data - ie what the weather is as the day dawns!

As I said, it's what the models suggest at the time (not, not knowing). Sometimes it changes. What if it doesn't change? Should we not have weather forecasts just incase they get updated.

So, it might rain or it might not if my machine updates, very useful!!

More useful, at some point there must be a fairly reliable certainty that the forecast is correct, give the information from that point.

The 5 day ones have around a 90% accuracy, which I personally don't thinks too bad. Whats wrong with improving that as the date draws nearer?

Do you want 100% accuracy, is that what your saying? It will probably never happen, after all, it's looking into the future.
