Any chance of negotiating a discount on the XL package now Setanta is not part of it?
Worth a try I guess but knowing VM they'll have some way to wriggle out of it.
EDIT: Just rang them and they didn't even know that the channel was going off air and they were still selling packages on the basis that Setanta was included!!!!
They said to ring back at the end of the week for an update
What a great company VM are!!

But Setanta was free, it was just added to the XL package. People who already had the XL package just got it added if you wanted it or not. I had it and never had any interest in it to be honest. Never looked at it once. Virgin never offered to remove it from me and reduce my bill for not wanting it.0

Only "free" with the XL package though and many people might have been tempted into getting the XL package on that basis, therefore they are no longer getting the full package that they signed up to.
I seem to remember that some people were able to get a discount when Sky 1 temporarily stopped broadcasting on VM - that was technically "free" too.0 -
im witth you tommok i want a reduction in fees ,, i would be appeased if they added a few more hd channels this week

Same as you lot.
Setanta was a bonus due to the football games.
Prob just get a Sky Sports discount for the remainder of the terms of the deal your on.0 -
They have said on their site they won't be reducing the cost of the XL package. I can't see the problem. It was given for free. Not charged for and people want a reduction in the price of their package because the freebie has gone.0

Sorry but that really doesn't make sense - it's part of the XL package - it's not free.
It has a very real value, if you got Setanta separately via Sky or one of the lesser packages on VM, its over £10 a month and having it included in the XL package was most certainly one of the reasons I went for XL over the L package. It was was even quoted by the sales rep as one of the "advantages of the XL package" when I was negotiating with VM recently over my renewal.
I wonder if they will perhaps include the ESPN package as "free" as part of the XL deal instead.0 -

It was free. There was no separate charge for it. There was no massive price increase to cover the cost of it. The most that you can expect is to re-negotiate your contract or cancel as their terms state.
They may well arrange the same sort of deal with ESPN that they had with Setanta and include it with the XL package.0 -
It was free. The charge would've been about £12 a month (I think) and if you were with Sky the amount you would've paid per month would have been significantly more than VM if you included the Setanta channels.0

Further to my last post, I spoke to Virgin Media and was told that they are working with ESPN to come to an agreement similar to that they had with Setanta. They paid Setanta 50p to Setanta for each customer that had the XL package. I was told that they are looking to provide ESPN under the same conditions.0

I wanted to try use this as leverage to get the Sky Movie channels for ree0
