Hello :hello:
FairyElephant - I just bought that red light thing yesterday!! I can't verify if it works yet as I think it builds up over time but i've heard second hand success stories, so let's hope it works for us both!!
And Happy Birthday!
NoahsPennilessMum - hope all goes well for you tomorrow, don't worry yourself about it (hard i know!).
My OS today - I've made chicken stock in my slow cooker using the carcass I roasted on sunday. I've had three meals from it so far (4 if you count OH's tea last night as well) and there's loads left, it was a reduced large chicken. Tonight I had it with pasta, and some chard from my garden - the first time i've grown it, cooked it and eaten it so i'm very pleased with myself!!:D0 -
Thank you for all the good wishes for James birthday and for my Dad for tomorrow. I'll be up at 5am in the morning as he has to be at the hospital by 7.30am and wants to leave at 6.30. I'm driving down as Mum will be worried too. So I'll either be on here very early or very late
NoahsMum You do such an amazing job with your DS I am in awe of you. I was reading in the Daily Mail today about a woman with an autistic son who has set up a magazine to help other parents & I thought of you. Good luck at the hospital tomorrow I'll be thinking of you xxx0 -

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Mon 22nd June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Good morning everyone!
I'm going to submit this now and then edit it, just to make sure I get in first!
The reason I'm up so early is because my back's killing me. It won't let me sleep and I've only had a couple of hours kip. Just waiting for the doctor's to open - another 2 hours yet. Fortunately, I should be able to get an appointment - they're not too bad.
I'm not too bothered - it does this from time to time, but I'm a bit worried coz I'm meant to be going on holiday on Thursday morning, and I have a drive of about 800 miles ahead of me (split over Wednesday / Thursday) and I don't know if I'll cope. :undecided
Still, I know there's people with a lot worse problems than me. The sun is shining and God's in his heaven, as they say.
So, I'd like to wish you all a very pleasant June 23rd, and send hugs to everyone who needs them today.
I'm going to go and get a nice big :coffee: and see what's grown in the garden overnight.*
*That'll be a few more carrots, parsnips, onions and cauliflower poking their little heads out.
MBE does gardening here.
Extra edit: Sorry, I'm only a rookie and quite unused to starting the daily thread. I forgot to check the birthdays.
So, happy birthday to FairyElephant, D&DD, pandas66, miacat (who I've not seen for ages) and anyone else.:bdaycake:
P.S. I'm well chuffed. I've always wanted to start this thread. :j

Evening all :hello:
Just in from the garden. The sun is still shining and won't set for another half an hour so I've been making the most of it. Had to come in to post as the laptop isn't charged. One of these days I will just sit and enjoy the garden without finding a job to do.Sowed some more lettuce and radish, fed all the baskets and window boxes and tied up the second sowing of peas. I know what you mean about the slugs Churchie . I did water in nematodes which worked great for 5 weeks but they are back with avengeance so I filled the beer traps and will be out with my torch later.
Ended up having spag bol for tea which the twins more or less cooked themselves under supervision. They are keen to learn so I've started teaching them a few recipes.
Had their prizegiving today and I am very proud of them both :happyhear. We went to the beach after school to give the dog a run and it was much cooler there than the garden. Car is full of sand again but at the start of the summer there seems no point in cleaning it.
Popped to Tesco for some value lager for the slugs and picked up a half lamb shoulder for 90p and 2 pork fillets reduced to 50p each. :money:
Need to make sandwiches in a bit but will just finish my G&T first.:shhh::whistle::cool:
Take care everyone

Hello everybody
Happy birthday to D&DD, Fairy Elephant, James, Miacat, Panda 66...hope that you have all had a lovely day.
Its been a lovely day here, not sure what the temperature was but it was very pleasant, been feeling extremely tired again so did very little beyond one load of washing and make pizza for dinner...I really prefer fresh yeast for dough, it seems to turn out best....maybe its just me. The paddle belonging to the BM has been mislaid so making bread etc by hand at present, not a great chore so long as I remember to start in time.
NPM....hope that they get your problem identified and at least on its way to being sorted to-morrow.
Hugs to all in need or want and hugs to all who are celebrating
