Aww - thanks for the birthday wishes - I am very touched!:o
I used to love birthdays, but as I've got older they don't seem to have the sparkle they once had...and the last few years it's been a bit more 'oh another birthday - that means yet another year older and still no baby' - but this year of course we are on tenterhooks....halfway through the dreaded '2 Week Wait', so it will be a subdued celebration. DH is taking me to a local Italian restaurant which we both like, and then we'll meet a couple of friends at the pub for a few (non-alcoholic for me of course!) drinks.
Didn't make the planned lemon-drizzle for work last nite - DH dragged me off to look at cars, and by the time we got back I was too tired, so I had to pop in the supermarket and BUY  cakes (hangs head in OS shame!:o), and I went to bed having forgotten to put the BM on, so DH had no bread for sandwiches (but he forgot to bring bring my birthday card home from work so I could have it this morning - so I didn't feel too guilty LOL!).
I'm usually really pleased if I have good weather for my birthday too - but this year the hayfever is making life a misery! Never knew how much good the antihystamines did, until I couldn't take them this year! Mum wants to know what I want for a pressie - think I will ask for one fo those devices which beam light up your nose that Lloyds chemist keeps advertising...that should be safe for me to use, and who knows? - it might even work!
Happy Birthday to D&DD :jand to SunnyGirl's James:j.
Good job MrBE! Hope your back is better soon so you can enjoy your hols.
Hermoine, Gena, Halight - glad you agree re the Father's Day thing - sometimes I think it is me over-reacting. I went to see mine and took him a card and present - even though he has alzheimers and didn't know what day it was, and will probably forget that I went 10 minutes after I left!
Pen-Pin - you could add the sausage to a chilli, or to a rissotto or paella-type dish.
Have a good day everyone!

Got lots of jobs done yesterday which is good.
Happy Birthday to those celebrating. It may be stupid quesion, but how do you know who's birthday it is on here? Anyway, many happy returns.
Taking foster cat to the vet yet again today. Never been there so many times in my life. She had injections for acute gingivitus less than 2 weeks ago, but is already suffering the symptoms again, bless her. She really is a lovely old cat, hope they can sort her out.
Pen-Pin, hope your new meds work.
I am in awe of the people on here who remember what everyone is doing or celebrating and list them all by name, I seem to forget almost as soon as I've read it!
Anyway, have a good day all.0 -

Aww (((HUGS))) NPM. Well done for managing so much even with the headaches. Migraines are so debilitating. I need to go to bed in a dark room with mine, and if I move my head I am liable to be sick - so goodness knows how you manage to cope with your DS - I am in awe of you! really hope you get them sorted soon Hun.The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Sad but somehow funny....just spoke to my mum - she put my dad on the phone having told him to wish me a happy birthday. I shout 'hello' down the phone (he is deaf as well as alzheimers, and can't manage to adjust his hearing aids for the phone) - he asks me who I am! I tell him (mum is also shouting this information at him in the background!). He asks me what I want - do I want to speak to mum? She shouts at him again that it is my birthday and he needs to wish me a happy day. He then tells me that mum wants him to ask me what day it is, is it Wednesday today?
I just laugh and say 'no dad, it's Ok, it's Tuesday....put mum back on will you?'.
Bless him! You have to laugh - otherwise you'd just cry all the time. The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Thank you for all the positive comments about injecting and blood testing - as I said, it was only the first day that upset me, I am much more stoic now! It's the finger pricking that hurts, the actual injections are painless!
We ate some of the garlic scapes from the garden yesterday which was my first time! (The scapes are the curly flower stems of the garlic - you cut them to keep all the energy going to the bulb and not the flowers). They were suprisingly garlicy actually (everything I read online said 'subtle'!) . we tossed a few in olive oil and salt and pepper and grilled them and I used a few raw, tossed in with the butter on the new potatoes. As I have a lot of garlic, I have more to eat tonight! We also moved some of our amazingly tall tomato plants into a grow bag with another 6 to go.
I spent a couple of hours just tidying my desk yesterday - filled up practically a whole black bin bag with rubbish! It's amazing how many brochures you collect - I love those 'gadget' ones though rarely order! Have a lot of paperwork to file today.
Anyway, the BM just beeped and my OH will be home for lunch in an hour so I need to do my injection and decide what we are having in our sandwiches - and no, I don't have a clue what we are having for dinner either!
Warm gentlefor anyone who wants or needs one today.

Afternoon all.
Happy birthday FE, D&DD and James.
MrBE, I hope you can get the doc to give you something for your back; having recently done a trip to Orkney, I found it helpful to have a rest-stop every hour or so, and get out of the car for a break - it stops you getting all sort of seized up in one position. Anyway, have a great holiday!
Despite still being absolutely dog-tired, I have no choice but to get some baking done today, or Mr LW will have an empty lunchbox tomorrow. I must also set to and make some labels for the jam we made on Sunday - couldn't quite get my head around the label program yesterday, I was so "out of it" iyswim.
Right - enough chat, into action......very slowly, methinks.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
