I hope this is right because I've never been up early enough to start it before!
Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Mon 22nd June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Good morning everyone!
I'm going to submit this now and then edit it, just to make sure I get in first!
The reason I'm up so early is because my back's killing me. It won't let me sleep and I've only had a couple of hours kip. Just waiting for the doctor's to open - another 2 hours yet. Fortunately, I should be able to get an appointment - they're not too bad.
I'm not too bothered - it does this from time to time, but I'm a bit worried coz I'm meant to be going on holiday on Thursday morning, and I have a drive of about 800 miles ahead of me (split over Wednesday / Thursday) and I don't know if I'll cope. :undecided
Still, I know there's people with a lot worse problems than me. The sun is shining and God's in his heaven, as they say.
So, I'd like to wish you all a very pleasant June 23rd, and send hugs to everyone who needs them today.
I'm going to go and get a nice big :coffee: and see what's grown in the garden overnight.*
*That'll be a few more carrots, parsnips, onions and cauliflower poking their little heads out.
MBE does gardening here.
Extra edit: Sorry, I'm only a rookie and quite unused to starting the daily thread. I forgot to check the birthdays.
So, happy birthday to FairyElephant, D&DD, pandas66, miacat (who I've not seen for ages) and anyone else.
:bdaycake:
P.S. I'm well chuffed. I've always wanted to start this thread. :j

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to FairyElephant have a great day too xx
Had a great day yesterday with the American visitors, we went to a local town, had lunch, and then a quick walk around the shops, and a look at the castle, and the cathederal, it was great, will go and pick them up this morning too.
Need to have a quick tidy through this morning, and do an online shop, we are off out for dinner tonight at the pub :T so no cooking here today.
This lot of visitors are going tomorrow and another lot are coming Thursday  so a busy week here.
Have great days all xx0 -
Excellent start to the thread Mr BE.
Sorry to hear your back is bad. Don't fancy driving 800 miles when I feel tip top never mind with a bad back. Can you go see an osteopath? Swear by them for my bad back.
Redruby - can I come and be a visitor? Sounds like fun
Not much going on here today. Weather cloudy (like yesterday but boy was it muggy!!!!). Veggies coming on nicely although my courgette has some yellow leaves and that looks like white-ish mildew perhaps? Off to google it in a mo.
Haven't looked at the planner for dinner yet so no idea what we should be having!
Have a good day everyone OS or not.
Happy birthday to those celebrating.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Lovely sunshine here at the moment so surprise surprise I shall be doing some washing.
Have quite a big to do list today - office work, ironing, housework, make bread, make brownies, visit library. Will see how much will get done.
Easy grilled gammon steaks (were on special) new pots and peas for dinner. Hoping to dig up some of our own new potatoes soon - they are taking over the garden. Also looks like going to be a bumper year for marrows :j I absolutely adore them, dont think the kids will be so pleased though :rotfl:
Have a great day.

Back to work today after 9 days off, am looking forward to seeing my workmates as they are a great bunch and I love my job but I will miss my time at home. Have cleaned through the house and all the ironing is done.
Tea for the others is curry from the freezer, mine will be at work.
Hope you all have a lovely day xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Haven't been around much as I've been very busy. Trying to tie up loose ends in the office before the summer holidays and the garden needs constant attention. The children are quite time consuming too.
The weather has brightened up today and I've been saving my washing to hang out so will do that first, then the usual stuff, then the office, then school prizegiving.
Have no idea what's for tea tonight but I'm sure there's something edible in the freezer, hopefully with home grown strawberries for pudding.
Happy Birthday FE
Happy Birthday D&DD
Hope you both have great days. xxx
