Definitely worth it. As has been said, it's an older product line. The new ones have a slightly faster processor, firewire port, non-replaceable battery, SD card slot and you'll be able to upgrade to snow leopard for £10 in Oct instead of £30. Aside from that, same form factor, same memory capacity and speed and the same graphics.
Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though

The Newer 13in Macbook Pro's also benefit from a much better Screen so

    Better Screen
    Backlit Keyboard
    Slighlty Faster Processor
    Better Battery Life
    Sd Card slot
    Firewire 800

Also ilife 09, as the JL one is listed with iLife 08 for some reason.

I would personally go for the newer one for £100 more, just for the options listed above.

Thanks, appreciate the response but I would struggle big time to afford the one I have indicated. Another £100 is absolutely out of the question.:o
    Thanks anyway.

Why dont you just get a normal windows laptop and leave mac with its aesthetic factor prices.
    Good question!
Just fancied one if it was as good a price as it seemed.:p

My girlfreind has just bought a macbook 2 weeks ago and I exchanged it last weekend for free for a macbook pro (in fact I was £30 better off!)

The macbook is cheaper because it has been discontinued and replaced with the macbook pro 13 inch. Differences being better graphics, an SD card slot and a slightly faster processor

If you know a student you can get 14% off, applecare for £49 and a free IPOD Touch (well £145 towards it) for the touch you have to pay upfront and claim the rebate in the post less tax (at about £15)

The mac, though overpriced, suits her needs but in my opinion there are cheaper laptops (by about £300-400) out there that would perform better for you and have more features
    Any specific ones in mind?
I've been searching for months to get what i want at a price I can afford.:o

Yes, they only update it as and when they have refurbished stock.

There are quite a few there right now.

Yeah, they might even come with a free trial of Norton Antivirus, which will provide hours of fun. ;)
Hey Marty. Can you tell me how to do that - you know insert 2 or more 'quotes' into one response. that's cool.:o

Have decided to be at John Lewis as they open on Saturday as their clearance starts then and I may just get lucky;)

As mentioned earlier, do you not know anyone who works in higher education or is a student? They can get you discounts that will bring the price down quite abit. Friends/family?

    That's how I get mine.

Otherwise that first one is not bad considering it was £949 previous to it being discontinued about 3 weeks ago.

Here are the prices/deal for students but to go deeper you need to be on the university's campus

My girlfreind got hers for £773 with the free IPOD Touch 8GB and the AppleCare for £49 for 3 yrs

I just type out the quote tags myself, but the multi-quote button does much the same thing. That's this one:

Just click it on all the posts you want to quote, and when you get to the last one, click the normal quote button and it'll also add the selected quotes to your post.
