Right Halifax have updated and my total left is £85,414.26 (which D1 is £27.91 extra than the SS so I have amended it.) I imagine that the figure has 2 days of interest on it cos of the weekend? which is wrong but there you go.

So capital took off in July is £635.72 :D out of £1094 paid. (£458.28 in interest, disgusting!!!)

  • Pammy, do not adjust the SS by that amount, or it won't work next month.

Did you make a payment in the middle of the month or only on the 1st.

The reason I say this is as follows:

    £85,414.26 - £27.91 = £85,386.35

    £85,386.35 x 5.89% / 365 x 2 = £27.56

This is not the £27.91 as this is a long way out (given it is only one month).

What I would do is ring up the halifax, ask them what you balance is as at today and what you daily interest is. The balance todays less 3 or 4 days of daily interest should agree to the balance on the spreadsheet. If not, we've got to sort the spreadsheet out.

I say to ring the Halifax as the online balance isn't always accurate.

Gather this information, and I'll help you get it sorted.

ok I rang them and they say that my balance today is 85428.04 take away daily interest of £13.78 makes it balance yesterday of 85414.26 (as above and online amount)

I did only pay the OP £500 on the 1st and no other extra payments on your advice. I wanted to OP through the month but you say its better to save and do it altogether?
so dont know whats happened D1?

also another question - do i pay on the 31st so it comes off the next day or do i pay on the day of the 1st?

  • Right Pammy, this is your situation.

    Balance @ 01.08.2009 £85,386.70
    Daily interest of: £85,386.70 x 5.89% / 365 = £13.78 (rounded)
    Balance today = £85,386.70 + £13.78 + £13.78 + £13.78 = £85,428.04

You say the balance per the SS is £85,386.35 which is 35p different. I will check my SS when I get home to see why this is different. You overpaid by £500 yeah?

You pay on the first and they received whenever but backdate the receipt to when you sent it.

Let me know if this makes sense????

  • cool!

the 35p still bugs me though. I will look into that when I get home. lol

Just to confirm, if the SS is 35p different, you will only need to put 35p in the adjustment column. You will then see the daily interest will still agree to the £13.78.

If you put in the £27.91 you mentioned earlier, the daily interest will change on the SS and the balance won't agree next month.

    Will report back later!

well having a bit of a bad week. started to do bonus bagging as read about it on a making money site (not this one as they are clever enough to not mention it!)

anyway did 4 casinos and being a novice i clearly didnt really know what I was getting into.
    Casino no 1 lost £40
    Casino 2 profit £87.50
    Casino 3 profit £90
    casino 4 lost £75

so after hours and hours and hours of wagering through i am only in profit £62.50 but at least its a profit I suppose!
and also there should be £30 from quidco and £25 from rpoints from clicking through to the casinos (hopefully!)

I also withdrew £20 from bingo sites

Am hoping to do a carboot this weekend but at the moment i should be able to overpay £300 (poss £400 at best)

wanted to make a few changes this month. tried to get the kids schools changed to close by (10mins away at mo and then 25 mins to work from there) costs a lot in petrol!! but today found out that there isnt a place at the good school but maybe be one at an average school. not sure what to do. the school they are at now is just above average with only 20 kids in the year and the other school has 60 in the year. Am I just being selfish?

ok, kids changing schools hasnt happened :( although i am a step forward with getting to know the head and having her name on the waiting list with LEA and the schools 'admissions book' will arrange a meet with the head once the kids are back at school also

well did a carboot and made a measly £100 but better than a kick in the teeth! it paid for school uniform, shoes and petrol.
got £27 from quidco this month which isnt much and £25 from free bingo too

so I will just be OP £300 this month making my total £2200 this year and beating my target :)
