Its a way of making sure you pay the extra as well and then you can pay o/p if you wish but have a chance of paying more back.
I guess the more the amount goes down the less you can o/p by % so its a good way to do it.
I'm due to remortgage end of feb so might knock it down there depending on the figures.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Saw on HUKD that there is a half price water butt and stand and divertor at Sainsburys. In total I think it would be about £20. Its a slimline one which would suit my small garden. Was wondering if the £20 is worth it? Would I save more than that by using it? I only have a few plants in the garden that I need to water.
I am on a meter.
EDIT: Just got my water bill this morning and I am £39 in credit which also doesnt include the £30 I paid a few days ago eitherand this is not an estimate so next month I wont pay anything

So just having a look at my daily interest at £13.88 x 31 days this month = £430.28  so that means that my monthly payments of £594.09 are only paying off £163.81 off the capital!
That is disgusting isnt it!MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Pammy
Just think what the situation is on credit cards when people don't pay in full. Basically mortgages still represent the cheapest loans you can get, but they are very large so the interest sum appears so big.
In reality you can see why OPs at your stage of the mortgage curve make such an impact in the longer term. for example, an OP of £55 would be 33.3% of the proportion of your standard payment reducing the capital. Hopefully that statistic can help you think about "small" OP sums more positively?0 -
Thank you Stuart.
It does make me more determined
Right tasks for the weekend (some should have been done today but had a lazy day off!!)
Sort out and make a list of things to sell at carboot (again)
Sort through good and bad clothes (charity or not worthy!)
Go to tip with the rubbish that has been sitting in garden!
Look at doing the daily scratchcards (where are they??)
Resend letters to Pete for PPI claim (ex has to sign them as well ) but says he doesnt want the money which is a blooming good job as I paid the loan off with the remortgage otherwise the mortgage would be half what it is now. (that makes me feel sad now!!!)
Think thats it for now.
I was reading the other debt free threads earlier and I am amazed how much debt some people are in over so many CCs. I am glad I dont have them on top of the mortgage. I have nothing on my credit card and am in the great mindset that if I dont need it dont buy it unless I can afford to buy it outright (like my treasured lappy!)MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

***(big sigh)***
Have spent most of the afternoon setting up a few cashback sites and survey sites but am thinking it will be a lot of time used for not a lot of money and perhaps I can do something better for more money! It just seems a lot of work for a few pence!
Have done a few quidco things today, applied for 2 CCs (wont use them of course) and they have tracked but wondering if I have to use them at least once to be paid out?
got another couple of £2 coins for the pot todayMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

wow didnt realise its been a while since I updated here.
Have been frantically signing up to cashback sites and survey sites but getting a bit disheartened when things dont track or I get a survey come through and the majority of the time I dont qualify! I guess I should be a drinking smoking obese married man to get surveys!!!
have joined bingoport which is free and have already earned my first £5 amazon voucher
havent really had time to do competitions lately or been able to do a carboot, today kids have a party and tomorrow its not on
should be able to op £200 this month as I have decided to only pay for 6 months tax. I figure you only save £18 by paying for the year and I could save a lot more than that by paying £100 off the mortgage instead. I hope I have figured right?
another question, the CCs that I have applied for, if I dont use them will i get charged an admin fee?MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Have tried to keep up with daily clicks each night but not doing every site i have signed up for.
This month quidco has been fab for me and i have £78.96 scheduled to be paid this month which is fabHopefully they will pay.
I dont have to pay my monthly water bill this month so thats another £30 to the mortgage pot.
I've decided to only get 6 months car tax as i would only save £18 doing the year and I reckon I would save more in interest if i paid the rest on the mortgage (not sure if thats right or not but it sounds better to me so thats another £100 plus my normal £100 a month
so, so far in my mortgage pot to pay at the end of the month is £308.96
I hope I can stick to this and pay that amount..
Also got my first bingoport redeem for amazon vouchers so £5 towards xmas pressies. I have been doing surveys as well when i get them but the majority of the time I dont qualify which is annoying
Havent had time to do any comps recently so no wins there and havent been able to do any carboots as kids social life interferes too much lol. My eldest needs transporting to summer camp this sunday so once again I cant do my local one which is getting annoying now!!
well thats my update for now, hope to maybe add a bit more to the pot by the end of the monthMPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Pammy you are doing really well:j.I signed up for valued opinions myself last nite so will wait and see what comes my way and have also signed up for quidco but have not used it. Do you mind me asking what kind of things you buy through quidco or how you earn that money because i dont really understand. I live in northern ireland and a lot of the retailers on quidco dont exist over here. Is it through signing up for bank accounts etc? I saved £135 pounds on my car insurance yesterday just be shopping around so am really pleased and will put that into the op fund.:TCredit card £4461.15Home mortgage £137117Buy to let mortgage £83,0000
