If you see my post above, how much i would save if i op'd the lot is so tempting. would take 18 months off as well. BUT I have always driven a banger and I think I deserve to have a nice car for a change. Plus it was money I wouldnt have had anyway.
On the other hand my mortgage wouldnt have been so high if I hadnt been charged it in the first place. I have just got to hope that the cheque comes in my name as asked and ex has signed over.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

Yes, i saw that. You could drive yourself mad though never buying anything. I reckon a decent car for you would be a great investment and save you in the longer term. Repairs, comfort. It is money you wouldn't have had, and you are really disciplined about overpaying anyway.
And a holiday might make up for your one this summer being stressful and not as good as you hoped for.
I reckon you need a treat more than you need to save 18 months. Sorry, being devils advocate. I am not the sort to have a brand new car, but i prefer to have something that is not too much of a banger as it is not as safe to drive in, and also false economy when they are less efficient and need repairing more often. It's not like you are wasting the money by buying a car. Not a frivolous trip blowing it all on clothes or the like.0 -
Yeah I just want a car that is maybe a couple of years old that is the cheap tax and insurance group. Brand New cars loose money as soon as you drive them off the forecourt! I would love to have diesel again as I have always had that but this horrible car is petrol. It seems tho that it would probably cost me another £1k for the privelege.MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987

I agree, it is a nice dilemma. Sounds like you deserve to treat yourself and perhaps by buying a more economical car you may save money in the long run anyway. Have fun spending and I hope that cheque arrives soon for you.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
