Hi Pammy, I'm with Hilly here - we all do the best we can, so don;t beat yourself up about it. If you can think of a way to make light of such comments, it might diffuse them, but I know what you mean. We can all be sensitive sometimes.
I'm impressed by all your survey earnings!

Hi Pammy, I know its easy to say but you try not to take the comments to heart. I think lots of us keep quiet about the extent of our moneysaving ways because lots of people don't understand why you would chose to live on less. I know my friends think i'm very strange for not having a dishwasher or tumble, If they knew how much I spend on my weekly shop it would blow their mind!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Feeling a bit low today as my boss is getting me down a bit with his smart remarks about my frugal living.
Its a family firm with his dad owning the business but he is in the office with us. His nan came in today to visit and asked if we wanted any plants (I think she grows loads in her greenhouse as a hobby) and he said Pam will snap them off your hands, anything with the word free in and shes there!
Now that maybe true lol but I sometimes get the feeling that he looks down on me as some sort of skank/scuzzer/bottom feeder!! I left work feeling rubbish but I know I am doing the best I can for my family.
I would definitely see that as a compliment:T Have you ever read "The Millionaire Next Door"? It makes you feel proud to be careful with the pennies....
....I don't mind being seen as a bargain hunter, though I do go out of my way not to appear mean & stingy. In my mind there is a difference.0 -
Hi pammy,
hope your feeling more positive today. Don't take these comments to heart, your doing the best for you and your family. Just keep the end goal in mind and don't let the petty comments get to you.Mortgage @ 01.06.10 £165,999Mortgage @ 31.10.13 £14,6640 -
Thanks guys, I know I shouldnt take it to heart but sometimes he winds me up. which is bad as tomorrow its just me and him in the office
Have replanted some seedlings today, hope they keep, the others dont seem to be doing to well (or I am too impatient!)

Finally caught up on your thread Pammy. You have done so well since i last popped in here. Well done. Inspirational that you do it all on your own too.
Ignore your silly boss. My family are always taking the mick out of me but i try not to let it get to me. At the end of the day, if you don't look after you and yours who will. They wouldn't have offered you stuff if they didn't want you to have it.
If you are feeling bad, just have a standard reply. In this case, perhaps say something about the slugs getting all your stuff. I honestly don't think people think before they open their mouths sometimes.
I hope you feel a bit more rested soon and less down about it all.0 -
thanks cha, he always says things like that, not just about me so I usualy take it with a pinch of salt. He shakes his head when I say I have been to the tip adn got a load of pots for 50p or some stuff off freecycle!
Think he is just jealous really haha, (actually he has more money than I could dream of!)
Had a night off from money making tonight and have been looking at jobs advertised to see what might be out there if I get part qualified.
Have applied for a job BUT it is 3 months contract that might go perm. I am a bit dubious to do that as I dont want to be in the position of no job at the end of it!MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
