got my mortgage statement today but it only gives you figures for each end of year.
    So it started at
    £90,000 in feb 08
£88,100.92 end of Jan 09 so only £1899.08 taken off (this was pre -OPs :o)
£84,055.72 end of Nov 09 so £4045.52 taken off in 10 months :D

(plus I have £83,088.76 left to pay now so thats another £966.96 off)

altogether £6991 off the capital over 2 years, doesnt sound a lot does it??
but obviously it would be half that if I hadnt overpaid.

Have got my latest bill from eon online and with proper readings not estimates and I am £88 in credit. They say they are going to reduce my monthly payments to £66 (from £84) which is good news but I wondering whether to ask them to set it into the middle so £72 that way each time they bill me it should even out.
OR should I leave it at £66 and OP the reduced amount of £22 instead?
I just looked at my SS and if i pay £22 it saves me overall £47.86 in interest so over 7 or 8 months thats quite a good saving

Am on target to pay £365 this month and should get two months maintenance from ex next month so should be able to pay that again. Also might use my M&S £200 gift card I won to get some shopping in BUT I dont know whether thats cost efficient or not as their prices are quite high. I'll have to go and see, dont usually go in M&S (out of my price range)

Give yourself a little treat Pammy (e.g. their lush chocolate puddings :EasterBun). You are right, some of their stuff is way OTT (- I have actually stood in there before & said 'HOW MUCH!!!!!!!' out loud without realising :o, but look for the special offers in January. The Oakham chicken is superb & goes a long way as not full of water.

I live nearby so happy to meet you outside if you think you need some help :D

haha, I was thinking of going in there with a birthday list after xmas or in jan sales and see what I can get for all for the rest of the year lol but will look at there offers on food as well.
Its so engraved in me to save rather than treat myself but i might look at there food processors/mixers and homewear stuff if they are reasonable.

Take time to look items up online in advance then you'll know they are good value or not in the sale? Can you use the gift card online (and thus get cashback) or only in-store?

Great news on the reduced monthly payments pammyj. :j

There is absolutely no problem with whichever option you decide to go for.

Payment arrangements are designed to give a zero balance by the annual review in the spring. If we are reducing your payments now, we will have calculated the amount of energy we expect you to use by this time. This will be based on actual meter readings and past consumption.

Provided your pattern of usage remains the same, the lower monthly payments will be aimed at covering the ongoing consumption so that the zero balance is achieved.

However, a lot of customers prefer to have a bit more in the pot to cover any unforeseen added usage. :snow_grin

If you are still in credit at the annual review, we will automatically refund the full amount provided it is more than a fiver.

Give us a call if you decide pay that bit more. If we don't hear from you the monthly payments will be set at the level shown on your latest bill.

Hope this helps pammyj; give me a call if you need any more info as will be happy to help. :)

Thank you for the advice, didnt realise we had an eon rep among us!!
