Lolly, go for a consultant change then. Your mw will be able to sort it out if you don't feel confident enough to speak to someone else. This is a right that every patient has, I changed my sons consultant also
Hopefully you will get one who is willing to listen and talk. Get as much info as you can, soon as you start sounding like you know what your talking about they usually start to pay attention.
MM, thats great news! I get excited about stinky nappies in those situations too, makes you feel more like a mummy and less like a milking cow. How is our wee dude today?0 -

I know they cant force me but when i ever i bring it up i get a straight forward NO we are not doing it hense i why i feel bullied. I am going to right everything down for the next time i go as i get all flustered and forget half of what i have to say if they still dont listen i will just refuse to budge when i go into labour and like you say they will have to send someone round i just didnt want to go that route i want this to be a stress free experience as much as possible after the hell the hospitals put me through with the last two.
I can understand why doing nothing till the last minute is attractive, but hard as it may seem it will be better to tackle this now.
I wasn;t aware you could change your consultant, but that is definitely something to look into first.
Secondly, do contact all those people I suggested as at the very least they will give you info based on your circumstances.
When you go to appointments, could you get a friend to go with you, to act as your advocate and to make notes? They could then be your voice to save you having to fight alone.
If nothign else, write a letter to your consultant and the head of midwifery services at the hospital, plus the supervisor of midwives for your trust, and set out in writing that you intend (not want!) to have a home birth and expect them to support you.
Apparently women who write letters get taken more seriously than those who don't, no matter how vocal they are, according to homebirthuk, and it gives you the advantage of being able to write it all down unflustered while at home.
you don;t have to make decisions at the appointments, you can say you will go away and think about it, so do that from now on as well.
I'm so cross on your behalf! Don't be bullied xl! If you have to quote the law at them then do it, and make sure you have the right bit of it and you're not quoting traffic law or something at them.
I've done nothing that needed me to go outside today because it was raining, so I am shortly going to make a paper list for tomorrow and put it in my organiser so I can refer to it while out and about. If I do it efficiently enough I can hit all the places I need without retracing my steps - and then I will reward myself with a lovely lunch and maybe my birthday mani/pedi. We've also moved almost everything so we can get the piano in here on Friday. The weekend will be spent putting everything back together, and then the only thing left is the nursery!
Also bought a travel crib for my parents' house using my last ebay voucher. It probably won't get a vast amount of use, but I'll resell it when she's grown out of it, and it's a M&P one with a bassinet feature (which we won't need by the time we get there!) and a changing mat part too. And those travel cribs double as baby jail so we can keep her contained and away from their dog.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

LOL SS i wil do my research ;-)
I have to say my travel cot was the best investment i ever made with number 2 was a god send when he started crawling as i could pop him in to play whilst i got on with the house work. I found the proper playpens were really expensive and bulky :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -
MM, that is great news! :j:j:j
I tricked the kids into choosing to go up with a DVD. One that they haven't seen so they are quite happy.
Seriously getting them told to get me off the labitalol. It's not fair on anyone me being like this, trying not to be a crabbit cow but I just feel so crappy on them.0 -
Thanks Skint What would a girl do with out you lot.
I have checked out the homebirth site before but will deffinately look more closely and list everything they tell me to that is relevant.
To be honest with you i was going to compramise and go for the midwife unit but after today im just feeling like why the hell should i just to keep them happy this is about my Baby and my body and as long as the former is healthy and happy then they can do what i want :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0
