    Glam:

My EDD is 30th July, but I've been in vague early labour for days. We went to the hospital the other night because I was having contractions and wasn't sure if I was just very leaky or if I had a slow puncture, and they said effacement's finished and dilation's happily but slowly progressing and to sit tight till pains are regular, progressively closer together and strong, or water breaks.

Glam, you don't 'remember' if it's in their siggy, you read it, you silly girl! Lack of sugar is messing with your mind! :D

I'm upstairs ironing, but having a rest as I'm so sore! Got a stitch like pain right down the right side of my bump and feeling useless and fed up. Plus random bouts of dizzyness. Thinking of a bath but DH is on backshift so if I get stuck, I'm suck for a while!

Skinty, we have only managed it a few times so your not alone.

Not alone at all skinty, although we did well enough in the middle trimester. Husband's been "hinting" that if I were a good wife I'd make a trip southwards and take care of his needs. He can go and ****, I'm far too sore to be bothered and so leaky that he won't reciprocate anyway.

Sugar - when you said you've been in early labour for a while, how did you know that?

Obviously I know to look out for the show, waters, etc., but are there other kinds of things that happen?

Recently I've been getting a terrible random pain in my groin every so often, more so when I am stood up, that is so bad my right leg collapses, and I wondered if this was a sign of labour or just yet another joy of pregnancy?

I was getting contractions and leaking, so we called the hospital and they told me. It's not active early labour till you get to I think 4cm, it's a latent stage at the moment (I'm between 1 and 2 cm) but they called it early labour and although it seems a bit of a copout I'm happy to go along with them.

That pain might be baby engaging, or the cervix effacing or dilating. Apparently pressure and stretchy pains on the inside could be any of those things. Good luck - getting close!
