He's just gone to his grans, but thinking about that its a bad idea as his grandad has cancer and is having chemo. Just phoned him to come home.

He's sniffling and looks heavy eyed.

I dont know Skinty didnt Glam say that they aren't doing tests anymore ?

She'd know better than me! I assumed they would test for it but perhaps not. I don't think it's the killer bug they've been making out though - the people who've died have all had underlying health issues.

Maybe just dose up up with paracetamol and keep him in bed for the weekend and see how he goes?

But I'd agree with keeping him away from his grandad at the moment, till he's better.

Oh no Suzy, fingers crossed its not.

Skinty - thanks for that information. It seems a long way off for me (and probably for a lot of people on here) but it is useful to know what your options are when you reach that stage.

Good luck Tara. Strong labour vibes to you in the hope that you go into labour tomorrow and don't have to worry about telling them you do not want an induction. Could I be really forward and ask you why you don't want to be induced? Obviously your reasons are your own so I won't mind if you don't want to answer. I am just trying to think what I would do in your situation and was thinking that after 10 days over I would be ready to meet "baby karen".

Thanks. I agree too on the killer bug thing. Think people overreact to it alot of the time.

I just phoned the midwives who said that the whole family may need tam..? Exscuse my ignorance. I'll phoned the gp now , I dont want to suffer this weekend if i can get something earlier.

I can;t speak for Tara, but many people want to avoid induction because once you have one intervention it tends to lead to a cascade of others. Induction makes your contractions much stronger so you tend to want more pain relief (and pethidine and epidurals all affect the baby and make it a bit sleepy which some people want to avoid).

If you have an epidural, you might find you can;t push so well, so then you might need the ventouse or forceps (this happened to my friend as she had so much epidural she couldn;t push any more!).

lots of women feel they'd rather avoid this cascade and want to do it naturally i.e. with as little pain relief and intervention as possible, so they refuse induction.

There is also the issue that dating a pregnancy isn;t an exact science, and you may in fact not be as far on as they think - allowing labour to start naturally where possible means baby truly is ready to come out whereas with induction baby is being forced to come out.

Obviously, if baby is distressed or there are other risk issues then those have to be taken into account, but simply being 'overdue' (and let's remember that up to 42 weeks is perfectly normal) isn;t always a good enough reason, and people often feel they'd like to wait.

Personally, while I'd love my baby to come out now (I'm 38 weeks) I am also happy to wait another four weeks if that's the time baby needs to 'cook'.

Glad she's taking it seriously - hopefully your GP can help/put your mind at rest.

    Aww, thanks.
    :o

Of course I'll come back! I just did so much research because I was made redundant and have spent most of my pregnancy sitting at home reading pregnancy books and websites!

Am now reading parenting books so will become a parenting bore no doubt!

Done nothing interesting really apart from going to pick my MATB1 and HIPG forms up from midwife this morning. She signed the HIPG form 15/07/09 bless her to save me going back on wednesday when Im 25weeks.

Did I read it right that when you are on SMP, tax credits people disregard the first £100 of it every week you are on it?

Hiya, yep, tax credits disregard the 1st £100 of SMP for as many weeks as you are on it :D
