I also read somewhere that for newborns any expressed milk should be fed to them using a teaspoon because they could get confused using a teat. Anything in this or do you just make sure you have the right teat size? I love talking teats
Both of mine were given formula in hospital for medical reasons using a standard bottle with a standard teat, and both of them had absolutely no problems whatsoever converting to being fully breastfed after a few days. No 1 had very low blood sugar, and so had formula top ups in conjunction with breast feeds for the first week. No 2 was breast fed immediately after the birth, but I was then very poorly so she was exclusively breast fed for about 5 or 6 days. I think with her I was very lucky that after this time I was still producing enough milk to be able to feed her exclusively but she had no problems making the switch, even though it has later transpired that she has learning difficulties.
That being said, nipple confusion is referred to so often by midwives and in literature, that there must be some babies who do have difficulties with it!0 -

Well wasp man came - was biggest nest he'd even seen for this time of year :eek: They are normally the size of a football at their biggest - ours was the size of 3 footballs!!!! It was in the corner of the attic but the guy sprayed it all and in a few hours we shouldn't see any more outside either!
Remembered to collect my script from drs for my BM machine kit - just need to collect from chemist tomorrow. I'm working tomorrow cos no-one would cover reception - it's 2hrs and I offered time and a half!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
