I'll never forget asking Weezl why she had a sieve on her list (she was having a home birth with birthing pool) - apparently it was for Poo Sharks :o

My OH is worried about the risk I think and also about the icky stuff - my conservatory would be perfect for a HB. Big space, hard wood floors, big enough for a birthing pool, could have blinds shut and back doors open and no-one would see anything (They would obviously hear me) and overhead fans!

I think OH would imagine my waters breaking and giving birth like flood gates opening :rotfl:

My MW was very pro-HB even at my booking-in appt. Apparently they have really high percentages and seemed keen to keep those up. DH has put his foot down (he's got quite antiquated views of HBing, despite me trying to get him to read recent literature on it) - but I don't really want it for a variety of reasons, so doesn't matter to me what he thinks. There's not anywhere practical in the flat (living room possibly, but a bit small) & the logistical aspect isn't something I particularly feel like dealing with. A birth centre manages all the clean-up for you! :rotfl:

  • Sounds lovely! we have a townhouse style so only the kitchen and garage on ground floor... pool would need to be upstairs so MW needs to check suitability i.e. can it take the load?!

men are so funny! I'll bet boss gets anxious as I get near due date that am going to suddenly flood his office with all kinds of horrible stuff.

OH is being good (so far) and has offered to get in the pool with me (not sure he knows about his 'fishing' duties though :D )

    :ohi sorry was lurking there:o

i had a home birth in feb and it was great! i didnt have a pool or anything fancy. i used absorbant pads which kept mess to a minimum and afterwards i think i stuck 3 towels and my nighty in the washing machine!
MW take all the yuky stuff away and dispose of it and the next day they picked up the 2 boxes which contained the birthing kit!

i had erin at 7pm and by 8.15pm the MW were away, so i jumped in the bath and headed for bed, OH went and got a takeaway for tea as conveniantly i went into labour at 4pm:rolleyes: if theres anything u want to know just ask x

Awwwwww, you remind me of a smiley I found yesterday enceinte.gif

My MW hasn't discussed HB with me. In fact, she hasn't discussed any particular type of birth, I think there's a general assumption I'll be going to the hospital - which is okay by me, but it'd be nice to be asked! Then again, I did expect some consistency by seeing community midwives but instead I saw my third different one today ......

Glam - We were talking dresses for work the other day.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DOROTHY-PERKINS-LONG-BLACK-MATERNITY-DRESS-SIZE-8_W0QQitemZ230351120232QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Clothes_Shoes_Accessories_Women_s_Clothes_Women_s_Maternity?hash=item35a1ff2768&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1683%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

I received this one yesterday. Doesn't look much on the picture or indeed in real life. But i have i tried it on and liked it so much i have it on today.
It is slightly rooshed at the sides to accomodate bump and falls does to my calf. (I'm a 5 ft 1 shortie too). It makes my bump look fab, the material sort of hugs the bump and then is is slim fitting. I even got comments from some dodgey work blokes, when i went out at lunch, saying i had a nice bottom. Not something i would ever have thought would happen, seeing as in my eyes i am fat an frumpy. Don't think they caught site of the bump on the way passed though.;)

Would recommend. Think i got it for £4 - £4.50, plus del. But obviously all auctions are different.

I have it on with a short leeved, waist length green cardy and for the first time in ages i don't feel blurgh (if thats actually a word).
