ScS sofas ignoring trading standards

Furniture Village is a good place to buy furniture but limited range of upholstery, but that said DFS interest free deal is good, delivery charge is low,it has 3 uk factorys and if you get to complain to the right people and play hard ball, you will get problems resolved,
SCS are awful people, awful furniture ,and getting the local press invoved is imposible ,no newspaper will risk its income from adverts (take out the furniture /double glazing adverts and most papers would be empty)
I might ring local press again & see what they say.0 -
thanks for info. I guess that if I can stop some people from having same hassle I've had by not buying then I will be happy & its bad publicity for them

I notice there have been other people on here having problems with ScS. I am still waiting for the manufacturers independant upholsterer to examine furniture. Cancelled on me this week without any prior notice & now have to wait till 23rd July before he can come round. This has been ongoing since March.
My advice steer well clear of ScS0 -

I'll second that!
Their customer service is terrible.
Trading standards are dealing with them on my behalf now.. Lets see if they get anywhere!
Also, I would advise that you insist they communicate in writing. They have a habit of responding to letters with a phone call, then denying making the call.
It is a wonder they are still in business.0 -
it is a corner sofa, half of which is sprung base & other half is webbed hence the difference. Also very uncomfie where the join is. The upholstere I used for report was one recommended by trading standards as he works as independant consultant.
naughty naughty! Trading Standards are meant to be impartial!0 -

If enough people get the message about their appalling customer service then they may notice a drop in sales0 -
Thanks for advice, have had couple of phone calls but then they don't leave a direct dial no to call back and its a waste of time going through customer services as they just say they will get the relevant person to call back & then they don't.

I too have also posted on a couple of sites about SCS. TS were dealing - and there is now nothing they can do. I have had an upholsterer from SCS - and they say that it's not the sofa - but the fact that because of the make up - I have to "plump"all the cushions on a daily basis. It looks terrible.
There were feathers in some of the cushions - and foam bits in others...they sent me two inserts to make arm cushions the same.
I would advise anyone thinking of buying from SCS....DON'T.
The customer service is bottom of the pile.
Pity I did not pay by credit card - I could have taken the complaint through them.!!!0 -

Mine is on interest free finance with Barclays & TS are trying to get refund of my expenses for upholsters report from them but not having much joy. Which TS were dealing with this as I'm trying to get details & pass all this on to the rep from TS who is dealing with my sofa.0 -
Dealing with Edinburgh TS - but because it's an English Company - they then had to go through an English counterpart - so I believe. I also think that once the connection was made - TS Edinburgh went direct to SCS.0

I'm dealing with Blackburn TS but I will pass this onto TS & see if getting several complaints helps the case against them.0
