Hello, I was guided to this site by my neighbour as I was in such a state and she said this may be a good place for advice, so may I thank anyone who can help me as I am pretty frightened right now.
My daughter has a special needs disorder and attended a private school where she had a lot of extra help, this was good for her as she now has a great job and is happy, At the time I was married but before she left school we divorced and I was left with school fee debts of £5,000. To cut a long stroy short my ex took me to court again and again to pay his massive debts, each time he won and I lost my house, all the money and gained massive debts. In the end I had a nervous breakdown and ended up suicidal. That was three years ago. I have had therapy and am slowly getting life back together. I have made arrangements with every one to make monthly payments and I now hold down a full time job. When things were very bad three years ago I wrote to the school and sais I couldn't pay them hardly anything, and maybe some months nothing at all. I never heard from them. I admit I have been putting off contacting them as I have been frightened of facing them, and I tend to have panic attacks if I get too stressed. I decided that I would write to them at the end of the year when I would have been in my job for more than a year.
Yesterday I got a lady at my door who handed me a note from High Court Enforcement Ltd stating that I have been taken to court and I have to pay £14, 186 to them on behalf of the school! If not they will call again and take goods from my house and they will declare me insolvent. I am out of my mind with worry. How can I be taken to court without knowing? And the school have never written to me, I have moved several times but always left a forwarding address, and my ex has never moved and they have his address. I share a house, most of the things in the house aren't mine, so if the High Court people come and take things they might not be mine to let them take. And how did it get from £5,000 to £14,000? I am sorry to go on but I am frantic. I can't bear this, and am so frightened of becoming depressed again. I know if my boss thnks I'm in trouble again I will lose my job, he is very old fashioned and says of the credit crunch that people deserve what they get if they can't deal with money. What can I do? I truly hope someone has a good idea and I am so grateful for any help. Thank you

Welcome to the board , BB. You will find everyone on here really helpful and supportive and I'm sure that the very clever peeps will be along soon to offer advice. You may find the boards a little quiet as its weekend but will try and keep this near the top of the posts so when people do log on they will see it. As is often said on here, there is no financial problem that cannot be solved. You could contact the CAB for advice, not sure whether they are open Saturdays, or one of the FREE on-line debt councelling services.0

Hang in there BB, have a cup of tea and a slice o' cake while you wait for the experts to turn up.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

As a new user I am not allowed to post links so I will ask my neighbour to post the link to the scanListing 1000 things on ebay 48/1000 (952 to go)0
