Not an easy decision Bookie, hopefully you will start to feel as though a weight has lifted from your shoulders. :grouphug:

I did my washing whilst I was at work this morning, think I'd better tackle Mount Ironmore this evening.

    funnily enough I do already!
Not going to be an easy few weeks but at least I can then go away and face the consequences when I come back. Things will work out - I have a lovely family and you lot to support me so I will win through one way or another.

Got fed up with the ironing and gave up.
Think I may just go sit in the garden - can't settle.
Just been and told Mum and Dad about the shop etc and they have been really nice about it all! They are going to pay my car tax and MOT next month.

Definitely decided - shop will be closed and finished by the time I go away.

Good for you Bookie :T - you must feel relieved to have told your Mum & Dad & pleased (possibly surprised) by their reaction - IYSWIM

Hi Pooky, did you manage to get that book you wanted and has it shed any light on your DD?
Think I'd better try and bully mine into tidying her room.

The library didn't have anything of use...I've been reading a few bits online but I really don't know.....

She's 13 and she keeps buying and hiding food...I find empty packets/wrappers hidden all over her room, shoved in boxes, in a bag, under the bed....there was even a full new can of coke hidden behind a box, under a table.

I did wonder if she was just being lazy and hiding wrappers rather than bringing stuff down for the bin but to deliberately hide stuff seems wrong.

She's natrually skinny, a size 6 at most and has never been a huge eater...I asked why she's buying so much "rubbish" (I never deprive them of choccy or biscuits etc) and reading between the lines she's trying to put on weight as she wants her periods to start.

Makes me feel useless as a parent as I really don't know what to do to help. Think I'm going to make an appointment to see the practice nurse to see if she can help.

She's always been a worrier but I guess this worry has just got out of control.

(sorry - bit of an outpouring there :o)

Well there are two separate issues really.

One is that her periods will start when they start. Unless she's *really* thin with a tiny fat percentage (I think it's 4% - but you'd have to check) it isn't going to make any difference. That's round about the figure for an olympic gymnast or olympic standard marathon runner. Is she that fit?

Two is why she thinks you'd disapprove of her wanting to put weight on.

That must be a weight off your mind.

It is Z. I know I will have different worries now but at least I know what I am up against instead of imagining the 'what ifs'.
    Bit scared but very relieved.

She's got it in her mind that you have to be over 7 stone before they'll start so I assume she's got that set in her mind as a weight to achieve...but she comes from skinny stock, her paternal side are all over 6ft and under 10 stone, my father is the same. The only thing I disapprove of is "how" she's going about it.....teenage girls are tricky creatures and I'd thought I was doing so well.

What I don't want is this escalting into something deeper seated, we're giving all the reassurance that we can and trying not to make an issue out of it.....easier said than done though.
