Can't access MSE chat forums on broadband (Merged)

Not sure why but my Ip address has been banned from these very forums the only way i can now access if using a proxy server

Hopefully someone in tech support (moderator) will help me out.

You should never give out your IP address its open to all NASTY people to HAck your Machine,
Not saying there is any on here but you never know.

Can connect at work, but 'cannot find server' at home. ;(

I am another having problems on Moneysavingexpert forum.. my simple solution is to access the site thought a Proxy Server.

A Random one i found is 148.81.117.21 Port 80

How to set up the proxy server.

In internet explorer

Tool > Internet Option

Connection > Land Settings

Click Use a proxy server .. Just fill in the above details.

Remember to turn of the proxy server when not using the forums as it will slow your internet connection down.

I was under the impression that you give out your Ip address every time you visit a site , transfer a file on P2P , FTP etc etc.

Maybe i am not cautious enough.

You do, but only to web (the server you made the request), p2p (other clients you're sharing with), ftp (the server you're connecting to).

Posting it on a forum opens it up to the public. If you're on a dynamic ip it's not so bad as it'll change once in a while.

Just to note, I'm with F2S too and have been getting the same problem. Looks like MSE may need to contact BT.
