Can't access MSE chat forums on broadband (Merged)

I've tried getting on to this forum from home on 2 computers using IE, Firefox and Opera.
I can get onto https://www.moneysaving.com without any problem.
This all started to happen on the Thursday evening and I noticed that I didn't have that problem in work (with the same laptop that I use at home).
So I used my VPN connection into the works network from home and I can now get onto the forum - but this is really slow.
Can anybody shed any light on the problem (IP address?) - By the way: I have cleared all my cookies.
Cheers

Hi
Is it only me? For the last 2 or 3 days I've been unable to get to the chat forums using my normal broadband (I'm using dial-up to post this).
I've tried using both IE and firefox and clearing cookies. I've tried setting firewall to 'allow all'. I've also tried using another computer.
It is only the MSE chat forums, using broadband, with the problem. I can get to the MSE homepage and also open other links on it but not the forums. All other sites on the internet are accessible as normal.
My service provider is freedom2surf.
Any ideas anyone? I've emailed the MSE webmaster but had no response as yet.
(Will dial-up occasionally to check for any answers.)
Thanks.0 -
You're not the only person who has had this problem. Others on here have been affected too.
Not sure what the answer is.
I have a 2meg line that has been connecting at 29kbps during the evening for the last 2 days and I can't get on here at all.
I know BT have been doing line upgrade work across the country as there were so many exchanges that were to be 'Max' enabled by the 31st March. My exchange has just been done so I'm assuming my problems are to do with this. I had a similar problem during the last upgrade and it took 3 weeks to settle down.
Seems strange that a number of people with different ISP's are affected similarly. I'm with Pipex.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I'm on 2MB BT Broadband in the Wiltshire area and I haven't experienced any problems.
I don't say that in a "na na...na naaaaa na" way, just as a comparison for others who are experiencing the problem.0 -
Similar problems here on an exchange due to "Max" on 31 March.
Had a couple of dial up days last weekend.
London region and 2Mb E7broadband (one of the lucky ones)My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

As far as I know the problem seems to be Pipex as they have recently taken over other ISP's one of which is freedom2surf.
Webbie is aware of the problem as this started on Friday and I know Glad spoke to someone on the team regarding this as she has been unable to access the chat forum since Friday morning.
Glad tried all the tricks you mention and some others recommended by sra on Friday night but nothing worked and will now need to wait to contact Pipex on Monday morning.
Sorry this isn't much help but at least you know the problem isn't yours alone.0 -
So, it seems Max may be to blame.
How odd that only the MSE chat forums are affected (as far as my experience is concerned).
Thanks to all.0 -
I would most certainly clear any cooikies and clear your cache aswell
you could use ccleaner https://www.ccleaner.com at install untick install yahoo toolbar
alo it may be worth running a DNS Flush.
Start, Run, then type cmd then type ipconfig /flushdns then click OK
after that has been done just exit the command box.0 -
if you are using a router turn it off totally, leave for a few minutes then turn it back on...Ex forum ambassador

Glad did all of these things and more recommended by sra on both her pc and laptop. The only conflict is the MSE chat forum, the Main site and the entire rest of the internet can be accessed0
