Mozilla - delete and reinstall - how to save bookmarks?

Have you followed this link as of yet? How to see Hidden Files and Folders
You will need to do that. If you don't do it now(without asking questions), I will leave you to it.0 -
Of course you are right. Have a nice day.0

Not the answer to OP, but I always use iGoogle as my homepage which is where all my bookmarks are. Then whichever computer I use I get all my bookmarks from that page. Decided to do this a few years back when about to cancel AOL and worried about losing all the favourites. Really handy if on hols and using an internet cafe.0

As you said, you have not read the thread, I have Foxmarks,(now Xmarks), but it does not give me the facility to put onto the desktop or to a disc.
Where did the OP say he wanted to save the bookmarks to the desktop?!?!?
However in reply to your issue, surely its better to backup to xmarks than to a CD which could get lost or damaged or to your computer which could get deleted or lost?0 -
You're never gonna know that if you can't be arsed to read the thread.
I've read it now thanks  still can't see it so perhaps you could point out where the OP said he wanted to save his bookmarks to his desktop.....?!?!?
If you had read the thread yourself you'd know that I said I didn't have time to read the thread (at the time I initially posted), NOT that I couldn't be arsed.
Anyway I tried to help, wish I hadn't bothered now so apologies to everyone for any offence caused.0 -
I don't want to do that messing about, it should be able to save it as HTML to my desktop!
I'm slightly bemused by your attitude then, having read your reply and then gone on to read the rest of the thread.
You still appear to have been working on the "problem" nearly 3 hours after you replied to me when using mozbackup would have taken around 30 seconds.
if you don't believe me, try this video tutorial ..

The OP did not ask that question, I did at post #4!
I have them on Xmarks but wanted them on CD as well, nothing wrong with that, however when checking Xmarks, which is supposed to update when you put extra bookmarks on, it has not done so, as at least 2 I put on in the last week have not been added.
Having found the files in profiles, some are dated to December 08 and the latest appear to be May 09, I have found some I appear to have saved yesterday, but they are in JSON and cannot be read.jasonwatkins wrote: »I'm slightly bemused by your attitude then, having read your reply and then gone on to read the rest of the thread.

But it still won't save it to desktop/disc! Which is what I want to do, and did so quite easily with Foxmarks v2, v3 has a different interface and seems incapable of saving to the desktop.
Having looked at that video, it appears, to be similar to Xmarks, (?), which I have, but I was concerned where one statement says, " restoration can overwrite exist files in existing profile. Do you want to continue?" Should that worry me?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
