Lets draw a line under this now !
Everyone go and cool down, this heat is just to much.
99% of the time everyone here is really helpful and I find it reassuring to just be able to come on here and get advice or if its a simple question, have it answered. Which leads me back to my point of why I came here in the first place.
I got an invite to do an insurance survey to compare 2 comparison sites, it said don't give the link out as its by invitation only. I did the survey, took about 40 mins as the fee was quite good so wanted to make sure I gave good answers. Got to the end where it said sorry, but the number of people in my profile section has already been filled or something like that. MADE ME MAD as I thought as it was invitation only, they would have selecting the right number of people.

I'm a newbie and having just signed up with ALL of the MS companies, am still waiting for a lot of jobs to come into my area - I have done 4 in 2 months - is this normal?

My second question is - does anyone know a company that cover the Jamie Oliver supermarket or the department store with the blus crossess? I'd love to cover them as they are my usual stores. will try to think of a few more......

I'm quite new to Mystery Shopping too - probably about the same length of time as you although I've done quite a few more shops. With most of the MS companies, it's a case of fastest fingers first (for which the Alerts Thread is really useful!). Keep your eyes peels and your mouse ready and Im sure you'll pick up a few more!

Obviously some geographical regions are busier than others, and for some jobs you have to fit a certain profile, but keep your eyes out and you're bound to find some more!

That is quite low. Who exactly is "ALL the MS companies"? And what is your area?

I've asked about the first one before, nobody knows. Not sure about the second...

Just a final point under the line drawn, let me just show you where I was coming from -

I have just spent 15 minutes of UNPAID time to find an appropriate Manager to come and check that a) I have done the job I said I would, b) I am dressed appropriately and c) I was actually in the store

This is because, people pretend to go to do the job and don't, this is because people felt that as long as they signed in and then didn't actually do anything and this is because people haven't worn the appropriate dress code.

So because of all that I was not paid for 15 minutes of time wasting a poor Manager's time who had better things to do!

So can you see where I am coming from?

    The original post clearly said,
For Tern, do you really not have to do the jewellery shop for real? Can you just make it up and they won't check up on whether you actually went to a shop? I'm very confused and if I have to go to a real shop, I won't bee able to do it until Friday (boo). Otherwise I'll be able to do it tonight (yay!)
    and the reply clearly said
Just make it up, everyone else does
Many moons ago I had to do a test shop for a company, can't remember which one, not Tern as I am not registered with them but some company and I went and did a proper mystery shop of a local shop, that would be of the type that would get shopped. This way I could give an objective report and if the Company liked it so much, they might ask which shop I did mystery shop and I could advise, knowing that I hadn't made it up and I hadn't copied from another report, that is subject to client confidentiality. Friday is only tomorrow now, so they probably wouldn't even look at it until next week anyway.

If you looked back further enough, if my posts are still available, then you would have seen that I am very helpful to people and have certainly been thanked, but unfortunately, when this Mystery Shopping thread descending into chaos and people were mentioning client names all over the place and started being rude to one another, then I stopped posting, as I didn't want to be tarnished with the same brush.

I am happy to help anyone, but don't like it thrown back in my face. If you have taken my post as angry/ranting, then I apologise, but this was pure shock at the thought of people possibly, blatantly doing stuff, that does effect me, as per the job I did this afternoon.

Not sure why people are being mean to jellybelly? as I don't know who they are anyway.

So my advice is, spend the 10/15 minutes doing a mystery shop in a real shop, you may learn a thing or to and you could even gain the company new business depending on the report, which is always handy

Dotty13, once you start to gain experience and get your FFF working hard, you will start to pick up more jobs, it can be slow at the moment, due to the fact that a lot of people are taking up mystery shopping as an extra to supplement their income or be an income!
  • Hello everyone! I'm a newbie to MS and have a couple of questions I hope you can help me with! Firstly I have signed up with Gfk and I can see a couple of jobs on the list but they say fieldwork end date 4th July. Can I complete the assignment on this day or must it be completed before then? Secondly, do ms agencies penalise you if you don't always accept the assignments on offer? Eg, no longer offer you such a choice?

Yes, it's OK to do the job on the 4th.

Most jobs are offered to loads of people, so you shouldn't be penalised if you don't do them.
