OMG are you really serious :mad::mad:

Just give us all a bad name then, wonder why the clients stop using mystery shoppers making less jobs about for us who strive to work seriously on each and every job we do!!!
I thought this thread was supposed to be helpful to Mystery Shoppers, obviously not then, if that is what you do, ask if you can pretend to do a job and someone else agrees that everyone does it!!!!! I don't think so
Perhaps you should pretend to go to the loo and then see how you feel at the end of the day, having actually not gone to the loo at all!!!

Hopefully the CCTV will catch you out one day!

You have got the wrong idea about what we are talking about.

We were referring to a trial visit/test visit whatever you want to call it for Tern.

Before they accept you onto their books, they ask you to write a report just so they can see what your English is like, your spelling, grammar, etc.

With this report, they even state you can use one you have done before or, if you want to, can go and do the MS and treat it as a real assignment, but it is not paid as it is just a trial!

What a lot of people do is use a previous shop report and just change the words around a bit, or just make it up. Tern read your report based on your English, they couldnt care if you actually went or not.

I am sure the others will back me up when I say this - we would never fake a real MS - its not fair on the clients and totally defeats the whole point of having mystery shoppers.

So, next time, before your next rant - I suggest you read our posts properly and not take them out of context ;)

Well..... I did the Tern jewellery test and I didn't make it up:cool: I don't think it is just about your English etc either.

I noticed a jewellery store next to an MS sports shop I was already doing and so I went in and did the assignment for real. Tern responded with constructive feedback and comments, including that I had raised a different objection to the one specified in the test notes and to be careful not to do this in future. (In my defense, I didn't know I would be stumbling across a suitable jewellery shop and hadn't read the notes that day:o).

I also needed to describe the assistant, give my timings, notice the level of trade in the store etc. All of this could be made up but how does that assess your ability to do a good MS? It only assesses your ability to make things up and to record them in good English.

I don't remember seeing the part where it invites you to make your report up - maybe I overlooked it? I hope not, otherwise the time I spent waiting to be in the vicinity of a suitable jewellery store was wasted.

I say, get down there and do the shop and save the works of fiction for the magazine letters page!! (they pay reeeeeally well:T)

In reply to JDan (dont know how to attach the previous box yet - sorry!)

Im in the north west. There have been a couple more that I could do but had certain constraints put against me - like being the wrong sex, or having the kids with me when I should go alone, things like that..... Money's another problem at the moment - I haven't always got the minmum spend available to buy things I dont realy need - bf just been made redundant!

I signed up with RE 3 days ago and there is nothing showing that is available to me, and I know you guys always have work with them. My FFF would even work here! Do you think its my location thats the problem - there are shops in the NW though!

I just wanted to say I totally know what you mean about the having the initial minimum spend! It's not always easy if you're super skint already and you're doing this to make extra money! :rotfl: I'm just hoping that once the jobs get going and the money starts rolling in that it'll become a lot easier, as for RE I think a lot of it is down to the fact that you haven't done any shops for them. I did my first shop for them a few days ago and now I'm seeing a lot more different things on there; but make sure you have a few postcodes entered in like at local shopping centres you can get to as that helps and make sure you have the filters set so you can see all types of jobs! :)

With regard to the lack of money - I have all my MS payments directed in to a 'second' bank account, and any MS spends are paid for on the debit card for that account, means at the end of the month I can move any profit out and just leave the amount which is taxable and I cant over spend on my main current account.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Thats a good idea. My first couple of jobs were for quite low fees, but have been getting better, so in theory, I have more money to spend MSing. However, in reality........

What postcodes do you put in? I've got home and work - should I add the postcode of my nearest shopping centre, is that what you're saying?

Yeah definitely, some people have said on here that it has helped them. The broader your search terms and the more postcodes you have the more you're going to be able to see so it can't hurt. :)

That is such a good idea... I might set up a 2nd bank account specially for MSing... Anyone know if Gfk are doing a bank job to set up a bank account!? :rotfl:
