Ive got storage heaters. Only ever have them on when we are in the room, and then for no more than 30mins even on the coldest days. PUt it on for 10 mins last night in the lounge, but never any more than that, Ive always got another jumper I can put on or a cuddle from OH usually helps :)

    yip all year round.

In winter i use as follows.

Evening (bed time till morning) 15, First thing in morning (18 - 20 ) (if out all day leave on 15.. ) Evening (before bed) 18-20

As its been worm its been set to 0 so in effect wont come on and even set at 15 it rarely comes on during the night.

We are on a pre pay meter an iv found it cheaper to control the heating year round with thermostat than with turning off / on and even cheaper than using the timer.

Just turn it down as you leave the house and up when you feel cold.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Mines still on at the moment, its on timed and thermostat.

I keep it on all year for an hour or so in the mornings, otherwise no hot water.

Have reduced the timer and hoping i can continue to do so. Roll on the warmer weather :D

Mine is on all year, but at the moment is sitting at 24C - mind you seeing as I owe the gas and electric £320 after the winter quarter I should really turn it off altogether and snuggle up to OH :rotfl:

Mine are storage heaters too, i use just two of them in the winter and they've been pretty economical-my place is entirely double-glazed but guess what ?
British Gas just upped my direct debit by 30% per month to cover their recent outrageous price-hike!!!

mine is timed to come on on a morning for an hour and an evening for an hour but I als manually switch it on inbetween - have hardly had to switch it on over the past few days :T In the summer I switch the central heating off altogether and just have my water on for an hour morning and night.

    SNAP :rotfl:
And I just sent off for a rather lovely pashmina from the freebies thread for if it does get chilly again :D (does that make me posh now???)

on all the time but controlled by the thermostat, which is on zero, so off really !

It has to be pretty cold to get me to put it on but sometimes OH or the DSs do when i am not here to stop it !

Its been so nice these last couple of days that I turned our heating down, only to have my DD's turn it up again. Shock Horror, I then turned into my Dad: "If you're cold put a jumper on." Oh how it grates that he was so right in my younger years!!!!!!!!

Still, the way the gas prices are increasing, there will be a few more jumpers, blankets and hot water bottles in our household LOL
