I have just had a letter from Lloyds TSB.

They will be paying us just over 8K.....within 21 days.

This claim has taken 10 months.............which I belive is fairly short for a Lloyds TSB claim.

Thanks to this forum and its users for the information on how to claim.

    Wonderful :T:T
Well done and Congratulations, good going that.:j:T

  • Hi j.baker

    that is fantastic news!

I started my claim around Aprl last year - Lloyds TSB offered to give me £400 comp which was a fraction of what I paid in PPI so like you I went to the FOS.

I got a letter from the FOS about 10 days ago to confirm they uphold my complaint and Lloyds TSB have agreed to refund me all of my PPI +8% and I am now waiting for that lovely letter from Lloyds TSB confirming when I will be getting it back.

FOS did say it could take up to 12 weeks for Lloyds TSB to contact me due to their 'backlog' but I'm hoping that since your complaint seems to have been upheld a similar time to me that I will get the letter soon.

It looks like FOS have finally been cracking down on this bank!

Never again will I bank with them - I had savings, current accounts, bank loan and credit card but paid off my debts and closed everything with them as I have had nothing but trouble with them - they've caused me nothing but stress and worry and I will never go back.

I have banked/saved etc with First Direct for nearly 3 years and they are great - never had any sort of problem with them and I feel like that on the couple of occasions where I have needed some temp support they have offered the best option for 'me' and not for them and how much money they can make out of me! I don't particular like banks and Lloyds TSB especially have made me feel that way so it's nice that I can say that about First Direct although I'm sure there's always going to be other peeps who've had the opposite experience to me

Thanks Martin Lewis as if it wasn't for you I would have just accepted what Lloyds TSB did to me and wouldn't have gone out there and got back what is mine!

    Nice one Melissa.

I had a letter from the FOS about 3 weeks ago. I contacted Lloyds TSB to ask how long it would take them to contact me. Two days later I had my letter.

I would suggest calling them next week, it might help. The department that deals with the refunds is only open from 8am to 4pm (as I found out last week).

Now just waiting for the refund, so we can pay off some of our other remaining debts.

    Another update.

    TAX.

As we had interest added to our PPI refund, we will now have to pay a large percentage as tax.

Lloyds will not deduct any tax, so even basic rate payers who get a refund with interest will have to pay the tax on it.

I was told by the tax office that as the loan was in joint names we both have to pay tax. So 1432.45 interest wil mean that the greedy tax man will take about £430.

The FOS has requested that Lloyds add the tax notice to the bottom of the settlement letter (accoring to the person I spoke to at Llloyds).

I was also told that the 21 days, were calendar days and not working days. So I have been told that we have to pay the tax man by April.....assuming we get the refund that is.

I (we) had our refund this morning......and went to the bank and drew it out in cash!!!

I have great pleasure thanking them for my money back and for the interest.

I then put it into another bank, and will be paying some debts off.

I have also spoken to somone else in the tax office, and we have do not have to pay it until next year!!!!

I do not know about the bank informing the tax office, but I dont want my tax messed up again.
