You've done brill in the last year Catspaw, and don't forget that you can use all of the tools here to help not get into stonking amounts of debt when kitting out your new place. I look back at when we furnished this place nearly 10 years ago, and how much money we wasted - which was the start of this slippery debt slope.
Have you started looking for the new place? Exciting but, stressful I would think? Don't forget you can always come and rant to us....

catspaw, i think being able to brave your financial details and not be afraid to look at the bank statement is a major achievement, and sometimes life's changes get in the way of us acheiving our debt free goal, but in that case you just have to make the best decisions with the information you have available and go with the flow.0

Have looked at 2 places, all that seems to be going round here are 2 bed flats, which is a pain with the DD's but they are happy to share a room. The one I wanted to really see the tenant is being a pian and not letting the landlord in, that is about the right size, has 2 beds and an office and in the centre of town so will cut down on my driving.
I would love a 3 bed but with the way the council work their funding (and until I get my business making some money I am relient on them) I might have to stick to a 2 bed.
Looked at my bank balance today, I have £2 till tmw as my phone bill went out......am not bothered as it means the bill has been paid and I have today down for a NSD anyway:D even if it wasn't going to be it will be now.
What do I need for the new place? ummmmmmmm
sofa
TV & stand
Crockery
cutlery
sauspans
possibly dinning table and chairs depending on how big the place is
so not really that much. New bedding would be good as I have 2 changes and the DD's have 3.
As I have started to pack things up (early I know) I realised how little I actually have clothes wise
2 pairs of jeans ( 1 with a large hole in)
8 tops
1 pair of combats
2 suits
2 pairs work trousers
3 jumpers
underwear
2 skirts
and my runnign kit.........Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:
TOTAL: £6,437 (04/01/2013) slowly but surely it is decreasing:D0 -
i thought i didn't have many clothes but i think you hold the record! I did splash out on 4 new tops last weekend but they are replacing tops which are about 10 years old so i'm trying not to feel guilty about them.
Can't remember if people have mentioned freecycle but you may be able to find some tide you over furniture there. Or indeed at a local charity shop - our heart foundation shop have some lovely things.0 -
mmmmm we don't seem to have many furniture places down here and free cycle is being a pain and not letting me log on ( think it might be me though as I can break anything IT wise):D
I do have plenty of T shirts ( all race t shirts which are XXXL not much good at my height):rotfl:
LT I think 10 year old for any piece of clothing is amazing! How did you manage to keep them in one piece for so long?Proud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

think it was just desperation lol that and i hate clothes shopping cos i can't find things my size. truth be told some of them were looking like they were 10 years old so needed to replace them.
i have to admit that i've always been more likely to put stuff on freecycle rather than ask for things, got one bottle of guinea pig shampoo and that's about it.0 -
Have to admit I hate clothes shopping as well, am what could be classed as a tad skinny and hate the comments I get and the snooty lloks of the assistants.
I didn't realise that you could get shampoo for guinea pigs?
I might have to have a look around for furniture. I have finally got a chnaace to see the flat I was after, am off to see it at 1030 so we shall see what it is like.
It sounds great but......we all know what estate agents are like:DProud to be dealing with my debt:eek:

Fingers crossed on the flat....
I'm amazed on the clothes, speaking as someone who has a double wardrobe. However, we got married in 2000, and most of the clothes in said wardrobe pre-date wedding, so are at least 10 years old....
The fleece I'm wearing today is over 10 years old - and came from Primark in the sale!!!
At least I can't ever be accused of being a fashion victim! When DF day comes, I've got some ideas of things I want - but I also hate clothes shopping so it might take some time...

Now, why is it we all seem to hate shopping so much? is this a side effect of being a DFW or did it date from before the light bulb moment?
Mine: definately before.
