because if stand alone freeview boxes are exempt, it surely stands to reason that TVs with intergrated freeview are also exempt?

a TV is just a TV in argos' eyes, but freeview is different. freeview apparatus (be it the box or an intergrated TV) is exempt from the money back guarantee because of people buying it to use it for a "special" occasion (ie to watch a programme on a channel they cannot normally recieve) and then coming back to store to try and get a refund.

because of the amount of problems caused by people abusing the 16 day money back guarantee, argos simply said "no more, its now exempt"

which i personally think is a bit unfair, especially seeing as its not until you get it home and set it up that you will know 100% whether you can receive freeview or not. when i bought my first box, i used the text service to check that my area was covered. yet when i came to set it up - zilch - i was on the worng side of a tower block for it to work (good old halls of residence  )

    clear as mud :D ?

I found this at an Argos Clearance warehouse - I don't think it's available in store any longer.

Wharfedale are now owned by International Audio Group, aka the Chang brothers: http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/

They have diversified from their original market, louspeakers, and now do other electronic products too
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Ive just got a wharfedale 2610AF 26" tv and the instruction manual is not good!

can anyone tell me how to change the screen size please??
  • i bought a 21 inch which it was advertised as doubles up as a pc monitor.
load of old tosh. the tv was fine but the resolutiion really wasnt up to pc quality.
and it had a freeview tuner. they took it back no problem - full refund

basic rule of thumb is - monitors make good tv's tv's dont make good monitors

I don't know about these particular TV's but wharfdale electronic items (as apposed to wharfdale speakers) are an Argos-only own brand. Typically made in the same factories as similar lines with the goodmans or bush badges.

They are certainly not Argos own-brand!! My husband is a sound technician and he's sworn by their products for years. They're an excellent manufacturer. :T

Wharfedale as a company actually went bankrupt a few years back and various parts of the company was sold off. Some people in china bought the right to use the Wharfedale name and hence why we have cheap Wharfedale products which (in my opinion) don't live up to the brand name that was Wharfedale.

I have had various bits of wharfedale hifi over the years and its been excellent in ever way!

Having puchased the wharfedale TV from Argos as stated earlier - I took it back 3 days later it was rather dissapointing, not to mention a high pitched whining noise for 20 when switched on, a very grainy looking picture and a real cheap sound on the speakers and a worse than useless Manual. Replaced it with a Sharp from Richer Sounds - Now that I cannot fault!!!!
