Wharfedale LCD TVs - are they any good?

Went to an Argos Clearance store yesterday and they had loads of these, LCD 2610AF 26" LCD TVs, reduced from £599.99 to £359.99. Are these a) a good bargain, and b) any good as a make!!?? Tried surfing but can't see very much on these at all...

I don't know about these particular TV's but wharfdale electronic items (as apposed to wharfdale speakers) are an Argos-only own brand. Typically made in the same factories as similar lines with the goodmans or bush badges.

DSG seem to sell Wharfedale TVs as well sometimes.

we have a fair few of these in our store too.

from what i have seen of them, they seem ok for the money, but that said i've never tried watching TV on them.

we've sold many since they went on offer, and i haven't seen that many come back - read into that what you will, despite all the complaints about tatty boxes etc when customers first lay eyes on them :D

one thing you can do is go into store and ask to view the item at customer services. they will then take it out of the box for you to have a closer look. if you do decide to buy it, keep your receipt safe - so long as it does not have intergrated freeview, the normal 16 day money back rules will apply.

Definitely not true, I bought my Wharfedale Widescreen CRT TV and DVD player from Tesco a couple of years back.

At the time the DVD player was widely reviewed as the best in its class, What HIFI 5*'s etc. Some models of the CRT tv's have had a bad time with product recalls but luckily mine was one of the good ones.

I have no experience of their LCD tv's though. There are actually very few screen manufacturers, many brands come out of the same factories.

yeah there's a few places that sell wharfedale stuff. as for is it a good brand, considering the amount our store sells (cuz of how cheap they can be compared to bigger names) we dont get that many back.

because freeview boxes and Tvs with intergrated freeview are exempt from the 16 day money back guarantee.

so if you were to buy one, argos would not accept it back just because you no longer like the item, or decide it isnt suitable

Sorry Pavlov, you misunderstand me - I was wondering if you could tell me why Argos differentiate between integrated freeview sets and standard TV's - thanks
