credit is not a given right.

But it seems that the OP is exercising his right to come across to the rest of us as an !!!!! hole.

Just reading the one post at the start had me saying that very word. Well done to the poster (sporedude) who pretty much took the words out of my mouth.

Now, ianfreeman.....tootle off to your own little planet where everyone thinks the sun shines out of your behind. In some upper class toff area where you turn your noses up to everyone else.

But thanks for the laugh we have all had at your expense.

Some would be happy with a CL of £1500

    I would be ecstatic!

M&S used to issue their own cards before being bought out by MBNA.

MBNA has nothing to do with M&S Money.

M&S Money was originally founded as a 50:50 joint venture between HSBC and M&S - HSBC brought out M&S and now own 100% of M&S Money but I think M&S do get a share of the profits...

    Sunil,

:o I know - I used to work for M&S - I meant to say they were bought out by HSBC, not MBNA :rotfl:

Didnt realise it was a joint venture though - thats quiye interesting.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Heh! I have plenty of people questioning my manhood - not least my wife - without needing M&S to do it for me! ;-)

A credit line of £1500 is plenty at M&S to buy the weekly shop and some clothing.

If you want to start ordering furniture from them then it's low.

I applied for an M&S credit card following Martin mentioning it here, and went on holiday. When I returned it had arrived, with a ridiculous credit limit of £1,500.

I called to ask why the limit was so low, and a very sniffy woman told me that "due to the current financial climate, we are not offering higher limits".

I informed her, in an equally sniffy manner, that, due to the current financial climate, a £1,500 credit limit was about as useful to me as a pork chop at a Jewish wedding, and told her to cancel my card!

I have several other cards with credit limits averaging £10k and an immaculate record for paying on time and never in full - I am the model customer.

    Still, their loss!
Yes I have have been cutomer with Capital one since 2007 who are always making mistakes but evetually get them right and they have a good interest rate they have reduced credit limit Frrom £6500 to £1500 does this mean they can't afford to lend any more?

no it means they see you as a risk - or exposed to too much credit.
