Most of my cards have limits ranging from £15-£25k. But I still have my Barclaycard from my student days with a whopping £400 credit limit. Every now and then Barclaycard try and raise it but I call them up to keep it the same. It's brilliant for online ordering and if I have to rent a car/van from a less than salubrious outfit then I use my Barclaycard because once the cost of rental and deposit has been charged there's little credit left for them to make spurious charges!

That's a smart way to use a card! I remember my first credit limit was, I think, £150!

Yeah, somehow I doubt M&S will miss your custom. Just from reading your previous posts, I can already tell your a spoiled young man, never happy with anything you're given. Sorry, but that's the vibe I'm getting from you, right now.

    Young? I wish! I'm fifty-eight!

But thanks for the character analysis - one is never too old to learn. ;-)

It seems to me like the O P just wants to annoy people
Yes M&S is a jewish company
Why are you surprised when some people jump down your throat with the things you ay and the way you say it.

Er, it wasn't me that said it was a Jewish company. And, by the way, I'm Jewish. What did I say that was so dreadful?

a very sniffy woman told me that "due to the current financial climate, we are not offering higher limits".
    ...
due to the current financial climate, a £1,500 credit limit was about as useful to me as a pork chop at a Jewish wedding...

If it's "due to the current financial climate" that you need the credit, then I can understand that in the "current financial climate" they are not willing to give you more.

What is laughable is that a grown man in his fifties thinks that the observation that not every item in a pound shop is a bargain is such an insight that it should be shared. That is funny. Thank-you, savvy genius, for enlightening us with your wisdom.

Obviously, yes. But I still think they should have done a little analysis of my situation before offering such a low limit. Had they done so I think they'd have recognised that I'm a good potential customer. I'd have been happy to provide them with details of my financial situation.

Still, as I said, no real harm done - as a life-long M&S customer and supporter, I just wanted to vent and to let others here know about it. Sadly, it's come back and bitten me in the ar*ehole that I am apparently so far up!

Yup, I suppose that was a bit daft, on reflection. Still, I meant well and I might just have helped someone.

Yes, that's certainly the case, although I've never been offered less than £5k. I've found most offers have been between £5,500 and £12,500. The ones with the highest interest rates seem to offer the biggest limits, although I would never give them my business.

    You have now!

I agree with the others that have said to get over yourself. You do come across as very arrogant.
    Gone ... or have I?

OK - I'll stay away from here in future, as I clearly don't fit in. We all have our little quirks, I guess. No problem.

I think the OP would be horrified to hear my limit is £850.00. They had given us £3,000 but never needed that much credit so asked them to reduce it.
