Can someone just confirm that iii.co.uk only charge you £10 per trade and don't charge you if you don't make any purchases/sales in a set length of time? Also, do they allow transfer back into your bank account free too?

(I've of course had a look, but these sites do like to stuff small print!)

If I don't get this sorted within a few days I might just sell my shares (in profit) and invest in something else.

can somone please confirm iii.co.uk offers firm price, and not like TDwaterhouse or other share dealers who would show you different firm price and execute your trade at different price. e.g. you set 10p x 10000 buy and you end up with 10.05p x 10000...?

    cheers

Has anyone looked at SharedealActive? They're £9.50 per deal and don't appear to have any monthly fees or penalties for inactivity.

They were also recommended in Martin's article here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/cheap-online-sharedealing

I have tried a few and TDwaterhouse is my favourite, the site was slow for awhile but seems fine now, the customer services staff are very good.

What you describe would most commonly be called "slippage" the price they quote you is / should be the inside ask at the time, if you enter a market order and price moves you will get filled at whatever it moves to, better or worse. If you want to cap your transaction so as not to pay any more than a specific amount then you should enter a limit order. The only other way around this for the broker, isto allow for slippage and quote you above the inside ask.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Do any of the mods know if Martin's share dealing article here will be updated before the 10th of July, as that's the deadline given by Hoodless Brennan for us to decide where we want to transfer our holdings?
  • I've registered with Interactive Investor. They seem fine so far (useful customer services etc.), though I've not done any actual trading yet! They're sending me the forms to transfer my Hoodless holdings...

    dont the fool offer something?

I wouldn't go with the Fool personally - all their products and "reviews" are commission based, and their normal articles are sensationalised to such an extent they're not particularly useful. I no longer trust them...
(That said, I've never used them for share trading!)
  • Interactive Investor are quite good as are iWeb.

Both companies have been around for many years, albeit that they've changed owners a couple of times.

These are essentially the same company and both owned by HBoS.

Both charge £10 per trade although there are slightly different ts&cs, so read the small print first.

Good market information with iii, as mentioned earlier in the thread.

    Hey

When you say, for example, "£10 per trade", does that only refer to the buying cost? What would it cost to then sell (eg at iii)?
