Is the total charge for share centre 2.50 a month regardless of how much you use it?

    No, it's £2-50 a QUARTER (+vat) administration fee - see here

    https://www.share.com/a/share-account-costs.html

and yes, it's regardless of how often you use it. If you trade frequently, and each trade is higher than £750, it is probably worth you going for the 'Trader option' which is an extra £20 a quarter (see details on that same link)

10th of July was the last day for people to deceide where they wanted to transfer their account to (this may have of been extended to 20th July?). However, as far as i know, they have not yet set a date to actually close these accounts. So, you can still use the HB online accounts until they give us this date.

Keep away from TD Waterhouse. After two weeks I have decided to transfer to another broker. TDW online do not accept orders on stocks traded in USD. All ETF's (Leveraged ETFS - I trade) It simply cannot pass through online system and I hate telephones.
I consider iii: downside is they don't do limits on ETFS. and they charge £2 for a limit to set on stocks (deducted from the fee if transaction fires).
Selftrade is perfect: but £35 annual fee is quite a lot.
    Any other suggestions...
  • Interactive Investor works well for me. Low prices and no surprises.

Phone service (when you make a mistake) is fast and efficient.

(Live 'Level 2' quotes are 20 quid a month - If you only use the onboard 'check price' system you get 200 mouse clicks a day.)
  • I haven't received a closing cash statement from HB, but the amount transferred across is (a little) more than I expected.

I am resisting the temptation to ask them for clarification in case it's a mistake.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
However hard up you are, never accept loans from your friends. Just gifts

I accepted the proposal to move from HB to TDW but have since been unable to do any trading.
I had a few active stocks which were transferred. But I have no details of a new username or password sent to me for TDW? How do i login to their platform?

    Regards
  • After taking the offer from HB to transfer over to TDW I just got this from TDW:

    Dear Mr

As detailed in our Rates and Charges, our standard quarterly account management fee of
£10 + VAT is due to be charged to your Trading Account on the last weekend of December 2009.

However, this fee is waived on any account with a cash and/or stock value of more than £5000, or where a trade has been placed during the preceding three months.

Trade or fund your account by 23rd December 2009

If you are able to place a trade or fund your account up to £5000 by debit card no later than
23rd December 2009 5pm, the account management fee will be waived. Here's how to do it…

I bought some shares when the market was low and I just want them to sit somewhere and see if they make some money as the market moves up. Obviously if TDW are going to charge £10 a quarter then any gains will be probably be wiped out. Anyone got some advice?
