We don't have moderators on MSE, just board guides. If you have an issue with any posts, you need to either click on the red triangle on the bottom left hand corner of the post(s) you want to report, or email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com HTH. Just so you know, the new returns policy for M&S is 35 days (it was previously 90). They also don't give you refunds with a bank statement any more (Another mail order balls up where I'd thrown away the slip).0

TBQH the sales assistant and yourself are BOTH at fault:
The sales assistant for mis-informing you.
Yourself for not reading the back of the voucher AND for not getting the name of the sales assistant you spoke to.
If you'd have given them a name and time of when you were told this information, I'm sure things could have worked out differently, but look at it from their point of view; how many people will "try it on2 when it comes to things like this? I'm not saying you are trying it on, but how do they know you aren't?
Whenever I speak to anyone in a store about anything that could backfire on me, I always make a note of their name and the date and time I spoke to them, just in case...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Edited to say: This is a reply to nexuss.
Another troll I assume? Do you read posts before you reply???
Lol, feeble excuse... Do you work? If you do, I assume you don't have a very demanding job.
I think your opinions are ill informed, however, I stated that I'd kept it for a couple of weeks before I returned it, not a few weeks. Well within the 28 day of the returns policy. I didn't read the back of the voucher, no. Instead, I asked a member of their staff for the information and trusted them that it would be correct. How stupid/feeble of me?
Who is the moderator of this board?
So anyone who dares to criticise your actions, or has a different point of view to the one you want to hear is a troll.:rolleyes:0 -

If that's the case, I'm VERY suprised I've never been called a troll then lol

What on earth has that go tto do with anything ???
Chances are your not going to get anything back from M&S under there hygiene rules.
Cut your losses, sell the bra on ebay. and next time get yourself measured instead of double guessing.0 -
Actually, M&S do take underwear back if it still has the tags on and is obviously unworn. I've never been refused a return of underwear. I've had the same situation as the OP; being in between sizes or a bra not fitting as it's a different style.0
-
Could you not exchange the item for the correct size?
Seems a helpful response to me.
If you exchanged it for a different style of bra that fitted, you would still benefit from the £5 off.
As for your comment that you are "furious about the way you have been spoken to",I can't see what there is to get furious about.

I agree with hollydays and the other post on this; that is a good suggestion and if you don't want to exchange for underwear there are plenty of other products instore which you might prefer to exchange for? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. No, that is not what I said. The poster I replied to had given their 'opinion' that the fact that I was too tired to try on the underwear was 'feeble'. This isn't relevant as M&S and many other stores allow you to return unworn items within a certain time period as long as you have the receipt. To imply that this was my own fault through laziness is unnecessary and not even relevant to my original post, therefore I wondered if they were a troll.
To clarify, for those that are still uncertain, I operated entirely within M&S's terms and conditions, only falling outside of those on information I received from a member of their staff. I probably should have taken the name of the assistant that I asked, but it is nigh on impossible to remember or take a note of every member of staff that you ask a question to, serves you or you deal with in some way as you go about your shopping.
At the very least I expected an apology for the incorrect information that was given to me. I think this is at least courteous and is the first step in good customer service.Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0
