Beaver subs double Brownies

I have a daughter at brownies, on once a week for 1 and half hours, cost of subs £15.00 a term.
I have twin boys at beavers, on once a week for 1 and quarter hours, cost of subs £30.00 a term.
I was a bit annoyed that Beavers was twice as much as they use the same church hut, when I first payed the subs, I was going to ask if there was a discount for twins...but the chap in charge wrote the receipt for £60.00 before I had chance (and I was a bit nervous).
A Mum at Brownies told me she only pays £15 for both her daughters subs. What should I do, don't want to cause a problem but doesn't seem fair to me.

I pay about £30ish a term for beavers too.
They do do good things with them though - sleepovers, camp fires, subsidised events and days out, lots of activity days etc so I consider it worth it.
I certainly didn't do that sort of thing when I went to Brownies (mind you that was back in 1066!)"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Probably run as a separate club by different workers. Seems expensive though, my boys subs are £1.50 each per week. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Wow thats expensive! Im a Ranger leader (the one up from guides) and we only charge £10 a term subs, and im pretty sure thats what our guides etc charge!0

My Guide unit charges £20 per term, and my Brownie Daughter costs me £17.50 a term. £30 seems very excessive to me. Do Scouts have to pay capitation, is that included in the subs? Do they do a lot of outdoor activities that are subsidised?

That does sound a lot. However there is no reason why you should get a discount just because you have twins. Other parents may have two children there at different ages but still have to pay £30.
Maybe you should just make a polite enquiry about it next week? No harm in asking0 -
Thanks for your messages.
azjh77: Don't know about capitation fees, they don't do many outdoor activities (in fact since the boys joined last Oct, I don't think they have done any outdoor activites). They had a panto trip at Christmas at a cost of £5 each (so £10 for me) but Brownies went to a different panto which was paid for by the brownies!
There is a day camp next month for beavers (about 5 miles away), cost is around £17.00. My boys are not going, purely down to cost, that would be another £35.00!0 -

Last year I had my 2 girls at Brownies... they paid for one of my girls to go to camp rather than them miss out due to us not being able to afford it. If they are getting so much in subs they should be able to help out the kids when they need it. What are all those subs being spent on if they are not going out or subbing any of the activities....?

It's a Christian organisation so they aren't doing it for profit. Maybe they make a bigger donatino to the church for the hall than the Brownies do, as these things tend to be a voluntary amount.
If you're concerned, then ask them.
I know most kids clubs like this, the fees have to cover cost of indemnity insurance - we are £23 a year for martial arts indemnities, so you need to take this into account too.
If you're scared of Beavers leaders, ask the Brownies why it's so cheap.;)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Scouts (beavers etc) all have to pay capitation of around £30 per year per child.
Check with the Beaver Leader - they really don;t bite0
